CR1 Interview Expedite

Hello everyone,

I've received my visa interview appointment at my local US embassy. I'm coming on here to see if anyone has had experience like mine. Is pregnancy a reason to ask for an earlier interview date? I understand people are waiting extreme times so I'm grateful to have received an appointment but I'm just curious if it's even possible.

Thanks

So why do you need an expedite?

I simply asked if it was possible to get an earlier interview date...

Without a reason, no.

Will you share your reason? If so, I might be able to guide you to a (possibly better) solution.

As i stated in the original post, i'm just not sure if pregnancy is even a reason to ask for an earlier interview date. Reason is the interview date is just very close to the pregnancy due date

That will not get you an earlier interview date unless perhaps your physician has scheduled an induction on the day of or shortly before the interview date, or other procedures essential to a successful delivery.

You can request a later date now if you want.

I would keep the existing date, and if medically unable to attend the interview, request a later date.

If the child is born before you enter the U.S., there are simplified procedures for bringing the child with you to the U.S.

That is, unless the child is born a U.S. citizen due to the other parent having having sufficient physical presence in the U.S.   Then it can degrade into a mess depending on the attitude of the citizenship services  office at the consulate and how busy they are dealing with adult U.S. citizens in various types of trouble.

It's that second line above that explains your issue.  Keep the date.  If you can't make it, reschedule for later.  Getting the visa early can make it pretty tight to get the baby's Consular Report of Birth Abroad before the visa expires.

You could also simply request a later date now.  It's too late already in the pregnancy for you to travel to the USA before the baby is born anyway.

To piggy back off Pshbrk’s comment. Have you had your medical exam yet?
You might want to delay it to as close to the appointment as possible or request a later interview date so you’re not cutting everything too close. You will only have 6 months from medical to move to the US…  and
Not knowing which consulate you’re going through or your due date (are you still allowed to fly?) it’s difficult to suggest the best course of action… as CRBA will probably come into play
