So, interesting question. Is there a comparable charge to corporate manslaughter in the US?

Because if Nicola Sturgeon goes down on such a charge, then I can see a slew of similar cases being brought here, if such a route exists.

 

I bet Andrew Cuomo et al are watching this case vewy closely.

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I'm surprised that such a frank article was allowed to appear in what's presumably a "mainstream media" newspaper in Scotland.  The Establishment would never allow that here.

Nicola Sturgeon screwed up royally. Alex Salmond wasn’t great, but Nicola Sturgeon, with the misdeeds that took place under her administration, has wrecked the SNP and probably set back any chance of Scottish independence by at least a generation.

 

Her name is poison in Scotland and they are an unforgiving bunch. Trust me, I’m outnumbered by them where I work.

 

I’d still be interested to know if anything like this could be brought before the courts here. There is enough evidence out there to make people rather worried if so.

Sturgeon definitely fell from grace- very quickly.  Apparently the Scots are less forgiving relative to political corruption then many folks here in the US.  Not sure about corporations here in the US, but again, I am not a lawyer.  I did see a very old NYT article from 1985 opining on this subject, but nothing current.
