Because the posts are BY the mods. Thus it is not an issue in the technical way, and therefore they would do nothing. We're saying it's a bad look, it's disgusting content, and you all can decide whatever you want to do with your "free speech", but we find it ridiculous that the rules you choose to enforce are:

  1. Don't post links to helpful sources, even if they aren't a competing website, even if they no longer have a page for donations, even if their content actually drives more traffic and discussion to VJ
  2. Say all of the messed up hateful things you want to, just say it in the corner of the site so it only surfaces when people use the search function
  3. It's okay to be a bit of a jerk because it's not worth the effort not to be

Like, cool, now I know, maybe you could sticky these? Would have saved me some time realizing this place is not somewhere I want to hang out.

So you’ve reported CEHST threads. nothing was done and you know mods are all colluding?
understood- then @steve and @Captain Ewok tell him mods are making the space unwelcoming and he will move forward with what he thinks is best as site owner…

I did hear part of the rant yesterday, but I couldn't quite hear the rest. I am visiting Argentina and my family, and they can be very loud! Lol

I do not know how they set up here, nor do I know how the employees receive the payment!

You need to have a Coffee with Julia. Get her to spill the story! Did I spell her name right?

Jim has mentioned a few things about his back story and I am sure I have missed a lot, that sort of explains things but it is a bit like here always gaps you have to fill in. Now there are quite a few things I do not agree with Jim, still watch his show, it would be very boring to just interact with people you agree with.

I assumed they outsourced a lot of their back office stuff to Argentina, makes sense financially.

Yes, Julia. I think she's from Venezuela originally, and came to Argentina for better opportunities. Bless her heart!

I do not agree with him in a lot of the things he says, but I still watch his show and take it for what it is: a show where people can get free immigration advice. And yes, outsourcing makes sense. But my question is how do the employees get paid with all the restrictions they have in place down here.

I did not know she was from Venezuela, I would not pick up the accent.

I do not care about the rants, before I fell asleep he was talking to some lady where there was an 18 year old wanting to adjust and I am pretty sure he got it wrong. I have thought of starting a thread here, What did Jim get wrong today? I am not saying I am any better btw but there are people who take his every word as gospel.

I sort of assumed the issue was transferring money out from Argentina, not send it in.

Did you know he mentioned he started training to be a Catholic Priest?

Yes. I know he also converted to Islam, but he is not willing to share why (at least not on the show!)

This may be the Male perspective, but I assumed that was to do with his wife, she seems the one in charge.

In the first episodes he shared that as a child he was “ hurt” by a person /adult in a position of trust ..though he did not name clergy ..that was a major reason to change faith.

Thanks, I think I remember him referring to that but not in a specific context. And maybe not in such specific words. To me it would be more logical to escape organised religion but each to their own.

Sort of getting back to the topic but his motto is We stand for Immigrants, but obviously has issues with some of the challenging cases he is asked about, so even he is not absolute. Things are never quite so black and white.

I believe they no longer handle deportation cases. Not profitable/ they usually don't win... long and drawn out...

Hacking's show is great when he has some of his paralegals and lawyers join. As they actually handle cases and are more aware of the ins and outs of immigration right now. I also liked Daniel and his appearances as he was a great cohost although at times he seemed to look like a hostage who really didn't want to be on camera...

I think Hacking mostly is the face of the firm and goes to some immigration interviews as moral support for clients... but I could be wrong? He is also a big proponent of filing the mandamus. A great little copy-paste money maker.

WRT to Argentina employees I think I saw a post where they pay their paralegals $800 a month... so great savings!

I sent @Rocio0010 the link a few months ago when she asked how much paralegals working for Hacking make...

I am not of much help there, as I perceive the issue here is that OP is satisfied to do more reporting of posts.

I see that as even more mod filtered censorship..so it’s pretty black and white.

Yes, CHEST posts currently reflect only half of this nations views/ media ( crass and objectionable to the other half ) ..but no one from the other half bothers to simply post threads

Am impressed by the writing and expressive skills of the 7 or so members supporting OP, and hope to see them more often.

As @Redro put it Be the Change You Want to See…..in lieu of more censorship or running to the principals office 😂

The replies I am refering to are not misreading tone, using your imagery does not change things. My culture is very blunt and to the point, I know comments like that can be misread, I'm not mixing them. This is in reference to 100% rude and unhelpful commentary and pile ons.

I hear numerous members with these complaints and see many OPs nope out if a thread or say they're not appreciating rude ess only for the rude person to double down

If mods want to sweep it under rug of 'theyre just busy/blunt' then enjoy losing members you could have kept

Just wanted to quickly chime in and say THANK YOU to everyone who has expressed an opinion here :)!     @meladee @Rocio0010 @Boiler @Vashezzo @Redro and many others!  To address one question above -- if you are EVER uncomfortable reporting to talking to a mod for any reason just PM me or email me at admin at visajourney!  I'm here to help but do not actively check the forums so request that you reach out whenever you need to chat.

Broadly speaking, I'm excited for this thread and to address concerns from the OP @AndiB :).  I'm hoping to talk about larger ways to improve the site, atmosphere and moderation "at scale" (meaning changes that last and address these concerns in general).  Constructive and actionable ideas are being listened to!  I've already talked to the mod team about so actions and processes we can improve on, but that's just a small part of the formula!  Hopefully we can constructively to work together and "build up" with a balanced set of changes to drive real improvements where there may be rough edges now :).

I am an Ewok. I am here to to keep the peace. Please contact me if you have a problem with the site or a complaint regarding a violation of the Terms of Service. For the fastest response please use the 'Contact Us' page to contact me.
