The guy in the SSA office said they don't do anything about the SS card until my Husband naturalize.

Not surprising. You need to visit SSA offices in a spiral pattern until you get satisfaction.

Er... this is for a new social security card, we don't need another one. Unless something is missing in the void that I'm not seeing.

If not, demand to see manager.

As far of asking for a manager/supervisor, I didn't had to ask when I was at the Athens office but the one in Knoxville refused. I sent a letter of complaint to SSA and they looked into the situation and then corrected it. I'm always going to automatically assume many people do not know how the immigration process work, along with many places, because it's not a common thing around here so it just take more of some time and guidance to push it through. Local people here are all terrible about it, they know nothing.

To edit previous post that was no longer editable - Edit: I think I see it mentions change or correct a SS card... I'll have a copy in hand but not wanting it to fall into a new SS# situation lol.

I went through this process myself, speaking from experience here.

You're changing information on SS card. This is one of the uses for SS-5 form.

See attached image.

If you look at the form closely, item #2 asks for existing SSN. Make sure to put it in.

Yes sir. Currently filling out the online fill-able form before it get to become the permanent PDF file so it's easy to save for later use or reference.

2 question on this SS form:
-Should I put Legal Alien Allowed to work on #5?

-Should I put Yes in box #11 since he had already got a SS card from applying for it when doing the AOS phase? I'm not exactly remembering where it was mentioned but I think it was the EAD process.

Hello all, I'm back again and sorry for the long wait.

We went back to the same office we've visited. As usual, we did not wait any more than 10 mins and we have been called to the window which we went to Yesterday and it was a different guy Today. Ok cool!

I presented the info myself and the guy understood, and processed it with no question. He seem to know about this stuff and told us that my Husband will get a card in the mail within 1 to 2 weeks.

I did not mention anything about Yesterday's visit, no need to carry drama. Anyway, it all went well.

Thank you. Case closed!

My Husband told me he was excited to get his unlimited Social Security Card.
Me: 🤦‍♀️ It is Unrestricted Social Security Card, si sir!

@WaterLeaf thanks for posting your experience. Did you fill out SS-5? How did you answer those questions?

Sorry I couldn't find copy of my submitted SS-5

Expand

Yes I did included the SS-5 Form and included the SSN in box 2.

To the questions I asked;

Box 5 I selected Legal Alien Allowed to work, but I don't have a reference to back that up other than the instruction that came with SS-5 Form.

Box 11 I selected Yes, presumably that my Husband did get a social security card and this isn't his first time (I think he applied for it through the EAD process), entered his name on Box 12 and left Box 13 blank because of no DOB change.

The guy in the office didn't ask or mention anything that need to be corrected. I think it'll go smoothly. I added a small pic, most private info are erased but have a few thing exposed. Box #14 and #17 was left blank in case we need this printed again for future reference; editable.
