Even if they get enough men claiming to be women playing (after Rapinoe retires I suppose), I doubt there would be much of an increase in attendance or viewership.

Hate to say it, but having more (genuinely female) "eye-candy" might not even help.

There are more women than men, there are more potential supporters which equals tickets sold, eyes on screens, products sold.

Really up to you Ladies.

On this, I must disagree. When compared to tennis, the women play football, not a shortened, or simplified version of the men’s game. Not one half, but two. Not 60 minutes, but 90, plus time added for stoppages. All the same rules apply.

When you look at the skill levels of the top teams, it’s up there. The physical strength may not be at the same level, but the tactical awareness and ability of the players is well worth watching. Not only that, but the women are markedly less cynical than the men, which tends to keep the matches flowing.

And the entertainment value is just as good, if not better.

I have not personally but know people who will watch my Club's Reserve Team, U 21, U 18 etc. Obviously skilful but not for me. I watched the highlights of a pre season game yesterday, we have bought a few players and wanted to see them, and obviously also interested in seeing anything potential coming through the ranks.

Ladies levels are from what I can gather comparable to U14/15, people watch those as well. Just not so many.

Which club?

When Barcelona’s Women’s side can pull in 90,000 crowds (women for the football, men to watch Alexia Putellas), the England women’s team can get 87,000 at Wembley and the worldwide push to televise the wWorld Cup, I think the women’s game is on a definite upswing.

I hope they continue to do well 👍🏻

Coventry

Even we can fill up Wembley but we can not fill it up every week

How many can you take on a wet Tuesday in November to Hartlepool is a better measure

They gave away 20,000 seats and from what I can gather the tickets are cheap

Look at the Guardian coverage, extensive, look at the comments, limited

Well, Portsmouth can fill Fratton Park almost every home game and Wembley every time we get there (the novelty value is immense).

The popularity of women’s matches is growing and I would expect the coverage of the Euros last year and World Cup going on currently to help that continue.

Exposure and engagement are what the women’s game need. Right now, they are getting more of that.

Like I said it is all down to the ladies turning up on a wet Tuesday

Hmm incorporate a wet Y Shirt contest.

Rapinoe retiring is obviously good news, such a divisive figure and has put back the cause many years.

Amusingly I tuned into watch the US game on Fox local channel, so it is blocked due to some dispute with DirectTV. Now they did give me a $75 a month option to upgrade to watch it but rather switch to Telemundo and have it in Spanish.

Meanwhile this happened, no comparison.

Many U.S. women’s soccer players refused to acknowledge the national anthem

The American women's soccer team appeared on the field at New Zealand's Eden Park, ostensibly representing America, but more than half the players refused to acknowledge our national anthem.  In other words, [...]
