Hello everyone! I have been interviewed last july19,2023 and the consulate told me that my visa was approved and wait 1 to 2 weeks for my visa stamping but it turned into different situation now, they called me in the same day after my interview 4 hrs. later and said I have documents to provide which is all about petitioner's tax return and they will send my passport through mail including the instructions, Im not so sure though , it confused me because they told me that my visa approved after my interview,. I have all my documents on hand and why they never ask me about it during my interview, i have checking my case status and  it was "Refused". These all happened in US Embassy Manila. any advise and hopefully all will be alright.

As I keep saying many times here, verbal approvals do not count. They can be ignored in my opinion since situations like these happen all the time. A true approval is when the status in CEAC shows Issued, not when a CO says it

“Refused” does not mean “Denied”.  It means they are requesting additional evidence be provided which you stated before they can give final approval and issue the visa.  The only thing you can do is provide what they are requesting and wait.  As @powerpuff stated, verbal approvals mean very little as a supervisor may review the case after the interview and decide more information is needed.  That being said, getting a verbal approval is a positive sign, so follow their request, and remain patient, and hopefully the t’s will be crossed and i’s dotted at the consulate and you will get your visa soon.

Good Luck!

There is no approval until the CEAC status changes to "Issued".  All visas must go through checks and processing AFTER the interview.

Consulate Officers and IOs just need to stop giving verbal "approval".....period.

The amount of checks and processing that happens is just mind-boggling. First the entire USCIS process... then the NVC... and then the embassies themselves look at everything a third or fourth time. What's even the point of being "documentarily qualified" if the embassy decides that you didn't submit X?

The Consulate Officer is the sole approval authority for visas.....not USCIS...not NVC.  Each department has its purpose, the CO is absolute.

USCIS should also not say approved

the notice that is sent should say "all documents needed are sent to NVC for futher needed actions "

many think the visa is approved from this notice
