oga stop putting panic on people, and stop making it looks like Nigeria is a bad country.. if they will issue you a visa they will no matter any country you come from their process is the same. No country is superior than any country when it comes to Immigrant visa.

Unfortunately this is not true. Each embassy works differently. This is why you should be a good VJ member and help @Akin Michael and others from Nigeria know what to expect from a second interview. Don’t just say “it is easy”. Help us understand what will happen in a second interview.

She visited 2019 and 2020.. Wanted to visit in 2021 but covid-19 travel ban/restrictions impeded her. I explained everything to the CO...

2016

This is the reason for the denial, I have 21 years age different from my wife and was approved on the spot. I think when the CO asked me when did I see my wife and I answered last 2 months and how many times we have seen and I said 4 times. I guess that was the end of the interview and he approved me. There is no way couple who are dating(fiancé) can see each other during covid and married couple can’t  visit each other. I hope everything is resolved now.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

It is not that the country itself is inferior, or superior; it has to do with the history of behaviors from applicants, and in some cases, the country's recordkeeping capabilities. Pretending that all things are equal from a location to another is a disservice to applicants.

For example, the U.S. Embassy and Consulate in Nigeria has a full section dedicated to Scams: https://ng.usembassy.gov/scams/

The FBI even made a podcast about the romance scams:

https://www.fbi.gov/audio-repository/news-podcasts-thisweek-african-romance-scams.mp3/view

For comparison, you can visit the Fraud section on the U.S. Embassy in Canada website: https://ca.usembassy.gov/visas/report-fraud/

Illegal activities happen in each and every country, but some scams are much more frequent in some locations.  Do what you want with this information, but do not be naïve and think that the local diplomatic missions are blind to what is going on.

With that, I hope that all legitimate couples can be reunited as quickly as feasible.  It can be hard to be apart.

Each embassy works differently.

Here on VJ, we accept the following.  There are four levels of consulates:  easy, standard, difficult, and Lagos.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I thank everyone for mixed feelings and comments concerning the FRAUD INTERVIEW case I posted July last year. I believe this's serve as an experience to everyone.

Eventually I was scheduled for the said interview( Fraud Interview / Second Interview), but seems to me as an interaction specifically based on some intimate questions like "did you have SEX with your wife etc".

The fraud interview went fine on September 12,2023.

December 12,2023 US-EMBASSY Lagos called me that my VISA was ready but my medical remained 6 days to expire, and that if I could still make it or I  go for another medical, I chose the second option, I went for my medicals, and on February 2, 2024 I got my VISA.

I arrived in USA March 3rd. Glory be to God am now living happily with my wife, yesterday I got my US-Green Card.

Contrary to some bad feelings, insinuation and derogatory statements from you guys, NOT EVERY MARRIAGE ARE STAGED & FRAUD INTERVIEW DOESN'T MEAN YOU NECESSARILY COMMIT FRAUD AS IT IMPLIES.

After my interview, consular officer wrote "will be contacted by our fraud office". Also asked to find joint sponsor. For how long will it take the fraud office contact us? Interview date was in Lagos, Nigeria. My wife is currently disturbed.
