Im the only relative in the USA and I am a LPR.

Here?

Let's clarify this.  Are you a Legal Permanent Resident (LPR) or a US Citizen?  You cannot be both.

Hi,

I have a question. My father exceeded his stay in the United States on his tourist visa. He now has a banned entry into the United States until 2027 (10 year ban). I recently became an American citizen and thought that this can help him get rid of this ban. I talked to an immigration lawyer and they told me that there is no way to shorten it. Is this true? There are no waivers that can help him? Or anything else that can help him expedite the process?

the answer you are looking for is not to be the answer you are going to get. unfortunately he has to serve the 10 year ban and will be unable to enter usa until 2027

No, you cannot do that.

Advice, if you have no ideia about the difference between a Permanent resident GC holder and a citizen, please study more about it. Claim to be a US citizen when you aren’t can put you in a lot of problems.

It’s still not clear how did you became a GC holder and after citizen (if you really are).

Good luck

Sometimes there is confusion about the difference between permanent residency and citizenship.  I think you would do well to look up the definition of both.

Please help us to understand your status correctly as that means we can give more accurate replies..

Updating your timeline would clarify things- your previous posts only mentioned you're a LPR🤷‍♀️but anyways, even as a citizen, you won't be able to shorten the ban for your dad who overstayed and due to that got a 10 year ban, unfortunately.

Ok....no timeline, so it was a bit confusing...at least.

But again, the fact that you are a naturalized citizen, unfortunately has no impact on the 10 year ban that happened because he overstayed his visa🤷‍♀️ those are the rules and they get enforced. Sorry for the situation, it's really unfortunate 😕

I am still unclear what op's legal status is, whether LPR or USC. Nonetheless, as stated by others op's dad will have to serve his ban out.

Not likely able  do anything to help him,   how long was he out of status?

There’s a way to make it longer. I don’t know about any way to shorten it although I’m open to learning.

Good luck!

Just another random guy from the internet with an opinion, although usually backed by data!
