Is there way to shorten a reentry ban for my parent?

Hi,

I have a question. My father exceeded his stay in the United States on his tourist visa. He now has a banned entry into the United States until 2027 (10 year ban). I recently became an American citizen and thought that this can help him get rid of this ban. I talked to an immigration lawyer and they told me that there is no way to shorten it. Is this true? There are no waivers that can help him? Or anything else that can help him expedite the process?

Does he have a parent or spouse in the US as a citizen or LPR who could file the waiver for him. Otherwise he will have to wait out the consequences of his actions.

How did you become a PR

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I thought PRL means GC or Citizenship.

PR is GC

LPR = Lawful Permanent Resident = GC (green card) holder. That is very different from being a naturalized US citizen.

1. Have you claimed to be a U.S. outside of visa journey?

2. What is the “resident since” date on your green card?

You are far away from being a citizen- you are a lawful permanent resident/ greencard holder

I entered USA as tourist on visa.

Then transfered to the student visa while being in USA.

Got my GC

Then went through the process and became a Citizen (as I mentioned above in the thread!).

We are are getting off topic. Its not about me, its about my father and what i can do for him to shorthen it. He is getting older and it is a long time to wait for his ban to expire. That why im doing my best to find a way, if there is such possibility.

You can file N-400 to become a U.S. citizen.
