Efficient time between medical exam and interview.

Hi everyone!

 

In your experience, what is the best time frame to leave in between the medical and the interview, so that it is not crazy far apart but also not so close that the documents/results don't make it to the consulate. Mainly I would be interested in experiences from Canada but I'm sure this could be interesting for a lot of people in different areas.

 

(I've searched for answers but if there is anything, I did not pick the right search term.)

Actually no it would not, IMHO. 
 

This is because it varies by embassy and consulate. 
 

In our case, the embassy would not schedule an interview until we could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the sealed medical result was in hand. You will get a better answer if you:

 

1. identify the consulate

2. request the moderator move your topic to a country specific forum.

Yes, it is Montreal, as that is the only consulate in Canada that processes K1 visas. 

 

And yes, it would still definitely be interesting for everyone, depending on their location, which is why people should state where they have experienced this.

I can say for us in 2014 and in Moscow my then fiancé scheduled both her medical and interview and they were two days apart.  She arrived in Moscow on Tuesday morning, had her medical exam, then picked me up from the airport as I arrived in the afternoon, we spent Wednesday sightseeing around Moscow, Thursday morning was her interview, and we did a little more sightseeing Thursday afternoon, and then departed for our then respective homes on Friday.  The consulate had the results from the medical exam when she went for the interview on Thursday morning.

 

Of course that was nearly 10 years ago, and a completely different consulate, and pre-covid so YMMV.

Some consulates (won't mention the name not important)  only have TWO places to go for the medical. And people have to fly to one of the centers to receive their medicals. They are also very busy so there is not a lot of "choice". You go to the medical when you get an appointment. Sometimes it is before the interview sometimes is after. 

Then- some consulates have as many as SIX medical centers. Easier to make an appointment.  A lot of choice. 

Some embassies will not let the applicant interview if the embassy has received their medical. 

Some applicants are interviewing in ANOTHER country and need to acquire a visa for medical and interview. This means how they plan their medical/interview around when they can get a visa and if they are planning on traveling to the country ONCE or TWICE.

People talking about the multitudes of experience re: medical is not "interesting" it is confusing and counterproductive.  Especially if looking for advice during the process.

Two weeks between medical and interview in Sweden, that's how long it takes for the results to be done and for the embassy to receive the medical report. So 2-3 weeks before the interview could be a good time to have the medical.

Personally I had my medical on a Thursday and had my interview the following Monday, so only a couple of business days in between.
