Why? What point does taking away the effort to unwrap a cheese slice actually achieve?

 

It’s like e-bikes. They still have pedals, but everyone knows the riders are just too lazy to use them all the time. They just want to be lazy and not put in the effort. They’re taking the easy way out.

 

Where is the challenge? Where is the sense of achievement for having unwrapped the cheese slice? It’s gone now. You no longer need to earn that cheesy reward.

The more salient issue is when the wrappers on store-brand cheese will be made easier to open.

 

It has always mystified me why anyone would buy Kraft or other name-brand cheese unless there's a coupon to bring the price down to store-brand level.

The same fad as mopeds from the late '70's, early '80's.  It is interesting to see the transportation fads over the years.  A great place to witness it is on a large university campus.  Back when I was in school, it was Honda Sprees, then skateboards and roller blades, not really sure what it is now, but the one thing that doesn't go away is walking, or manually riding a bike.

Actually, a moped is the polar opposite of an e-bike. It’s a wannabe motorcycle, where the rider is too young/too poor to afford a real one, so they have to put in some work before they can even start puttering along on petrol power 🤣

I'm not sure that congealed oil slices being easier to open is good news. Give me a knife and a block of cheese any day, rather than that junk. Us poor people in the 80s had Reagan cheese, also unhealthy but for some reason still tasted better than Kraft.

Right, but the entire thought behind the moped was easy transport and still have the ability to pedal them.  No one ever pedaled them, just like the e-Bikes.

I remember seeing a news report of a long line of these people.  A young lady, perhaps still a teenager and holding a baby, was interviewed.  She brightly replied, "My baby want cheese!"

Actually it's a real pain in the butt. Of course I was goofing but it can be a pain in the butt.
