Yeah, literally just came up with the thought this morning. My company let's me work from anywhere in the world and figure it's a possibility to spend 6 months or so there, but quickly googling seems like it's not easy to work in France whilst working at a US based company.

Well check, first thing comes to mind is that normally visitors are limited to 90 days, and not all Countries allow visitors to work. US does not. Plus possible tax issues etc. Knowing the French I can not imagine they make it easy.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Also curious how you plan to spend 6months there as both visa free and tourist visa are 90 days. I think 90 days per 180 day period for tourist free and 90 day sin 6months on tourist visa. A long stay is usually 3months but can be longer I think but has complications and not sure how they'll feel about you working. It's vague on whether they care as you can get permission to work IN France.

Yeah, that plan is not happening anymore. Just gonna visit here and there for short visits under 90 days.

OP, it's hard to be kept in the dark. I know it is. And I'm sorry that this is taking longer than you expected. I'm close to getting to the embassy phase but my time waiting for a I-129f approval was tough and processing times kept getting longer and longer.

You'll see the VJ processing time data is user-generated. And unfortunately many users do not update their timeline.
Another way to see how long is taking right now is checking the monthly filers threads here on VJ. People usually post their approval dates and how many days it took. They're now working mostly in June and July 22, and most are getting approvals in a year (12 months) or even a bit less.

Of course, every case is different, some people get approved after others that filed on the same month. It's a gamble. All I can tell you is that it's getting faster. Early 2022 filers waited about 450-480 days for an approval, June/July are at about 370-390. If it keeps that way, then it will get even faster. The thing is that USCIS may slowdown anytime, so what is happening now may not be happening when they get to your month. Nothing points to it, but it's just something to consider.

I would also not waste the 7 months you have been waiting if the goal is to be together and you don't mind that the beneficiary will not be able to work, travel outside of US and even drive in some states. Median processing times for employment authorization (I-765) and advance parole (to let the beneficiary travel, I-131) are faster than the proper adjustment of status (green card, I-485) and you can get them faster than the green card and then it's possible to work, drive, leave the country, etc.

I'm linking here the June and July filers thread so you can check for yourself. Just search "[month] 2022 K1 I-129f filers" here on VJ and you will find many like this one.

Oops, I added the July 2021 there by mistake, my bad. This is the one I mentioned, OP. Many approved in a year, but activity is just starting for July.

Thanks for the information! Looking at all the data it seems like most get approved at around the 12 month mark. So we're aiming for that now, we got our receipt early December 2023, so hoping that by December 2024 we get some news!

Be mindful not everyone gets approved in the first bulk of activity (I was one of them that got approved almost 1.5-2 months later than the other filers in my month). But again, it's getting faster and most are getting approvals in 12-13 months compared to the 15 month average for early 2022 filers!

Good luck with your process and stay strong!
