K-1 visas are not for married couples.  Your wife needs to join us here.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

K1 is for fiance.  That is, people who ARE NOT married.

CR1 or IR1 (depending on length of marriage) is for married couples.  There are guides here on VisaJourney:

If married, you’re not eligible for that visa.

You both have lots and lots of reading to do.

Your USC wife should join the group as there is a lot of information she needs and guides here to follow

At this point it is the USC who does the petition and needs to follow the proper steps with supporting docments for the CR1 spouse visa

If u are not married , u must stop referring to her as your wife as the CO seeing this at interview will think u are married and deny k1 saying "too married for K1"  costing u a lot of time and additional money

From Africa countries she needs to spend quality time with u to have what immigration calls a "real relationship"  ;;if married,a bona fida marriage"

BTW K1 is the more expensive visa to pursue

Do NOT use the term "Wife" until you are married.  That can create a lot of problems.

Do not submit any evidence which refers to "wife".

Salut la famille  on c'est pas marié legalment c des fiançailles

Thank you for clarifying. As others have said, STOP referring to her as your wife. If you do, this will cause many issues down the road.

Have you had any formal engagement ceremonies?

If yes, please describe them.

I ask, because often, US immigration will consider certain types of engagement ceremonies as a marriage and will not allow you to pursue a K-1 visa.

It may be a much better plan to marry now and go for a CR1/IR1 visa.

Neither is fast.  Both processes will take at least two years from start to finish.  For high fraud countries/red flags, spousal process may be better.

If you've been persisting in referring to fiance as "wife," your K-1 could well be denied.
