Hello all!  

I had a question regarding after you become a citizen.  Do you apply for dual citizenship, or is it automatic?

The name “Dual Citizenship” is a misnomer. Once you obtain your US citizenship, it is up to your home country to dictate whether you can still keep the citizenship from that country. For example Government of India do not allow dual citizenship. Once an Indian citizen obtain the citizenship of another country, they lose Indian citizenship. 
 

So check with your home country to see if they allow this.  US government doesn’t have a problem unless you are from certain countries like North Korea etc.

Apply from whom? US doesn't care .. your  home country will have a policy on what happens to your  citizenship  once you naturalize in another country.

Hello, First you need to check with your home country if they allow dual citizenship Second, then get the information from your embassy here in the states on how to apply what are the requirements needed etc. then apply.

there's no "applying" for dual citizenship. if your home country allow dual citizenship, then you dont need to do anything since USA doesnt care about dual citizenship. if ur country doesnt allow you to have dual citizenship, then ur only option is to choose which citizenship you want

OfCourse, you needed to apply, it has all the forms that you needed to fill out and along with the processing and documents required. You could not just choose one country without any properly documented and proof.

Not really a matter of course.  Not every country has an application process for re-acquisition of citizenship like the Philippines does.  Some countries allow dual citizenship without application for their natural-born citizens.  The UK is one example -- "You do not need to apply for dual citizenship." (from https://www.gov.uk/dual-citizenship).  Seems Tunisia also does not require application for dual citizenship, but my google-fu is not strong enough to find an official website to confirm.

I stand corrected, I guess I just assumed that one needed to apply like in the Philippines, and all are documented. Peace!

Yes, it seems that is what I have found.  There is limited information concerning Tunisia.  Contacting the embassy is impossible....  🤔
