Anyone had any updates recently? It'll be a year (!!!) tomorrow since we sent it off and while I know there are many people who have been waiting way longer... I'm ready for it to be over.

How close are you to apply for citizenship?

We haven't really thought about applying, because our attitude has basically been: let's do one thing at a time, no rush. But the window opened earlier this month, I know that. He's currently in the UK dealing with a death in the family, so all of this is really on the back burner at the moment. I know he has continuous residence covered but we'll have to tot up all his trips abroad to make sure he's okay for physical presence. Almost 100% sure he is, but there have been a number of longish trips. Believe me, I would know if he was gone more than half the time because I'd have bought fewer groceries over the past 3 years!

5 years rule is easier, true. But then you need to ask yourself what happens to USCIS if administration changes after presidential elections. There's still a possibility of becoming a citizen before any potential negative changes come into play.

Yes, thank you. This was also our major concern, especially after experiencing all the delays during Covid time. You'll never know what can happen then.

Hello people, I am in a same boat as you guys, I am ready to apply for N-400. whoever has filed it, did you guys use any services or did online yourselves? Thank you

This is too important to delegate to online services in my opinion. Mistakes in forms can derail your case. I'd say either do it youserself and spend good amount of time on it. Or hire a lawyer (you'd still have to check everything). Do not pay online notarios who may do a sloppy 10 minute job filing your N-400.
