Hey Doodle. :luv::luv:

I'm sorry to hear you had such a wild experience. I know it's frustrating. Unfortunately they can ask THOSE questions to as one way of finding out if you are really married. I agree that they shouldn't, but it's on the list of questions sometimes asked at interviews. Just wait until AOS! We got asked similar questions at our AOS interview, so I do understand your anger and embarassment. It's not for the world to know. So while I share in your anger, you didn't get denied. Like you've heard a million times on here already, sounds like standard AP and the worst part is behind you. Hope yours is speedy.

My Moh didn't get a paper either.

I just asked him about the video that Usama said he saw there. Moh said he wasn't shown any type of video and there wasn't even a TV anywhere in the waiting area. This must be something new. Has anyone else's SO seen a video or anything?

mohamed never got a paper...... are you sure its not a 221g whatever ????

Well I was in that waiting room and it was a large screen tv and it showed someone getting an interview and a happy person walking away with a visa and a sad person walking away with a paper.

The confusing thing is that the people in the waiting room were there for the lottery visa, work visa and visitor's visa. There were TONS of people waiting and every so often someone official would come and say "who is here for the visa" and we went up once and they said, "no no no, not immigration.....VISA":unsure:

So maybe the sad person with the paper is only for the lottery visas and non of that video had to do with immigration.

I dunno. So screwed up I tell ya they don't know their azz from their elbow over there. Half the employees were just sitting outside in the outside waiting area smoking cigarettes and drinking tea all day. ( or at least the whole 4 or 5 hours we were there)

I know getting denied a visa is not funny, but the TV thing really is a hoot. I can picture it now.

Usama is convinced, as are his sisters, that some of his "friends" have given him the evil eye.

They told me to put up my right hand and say something but I forget what to say. Can you imagine walking around Boston and when someone gives you a dirty look putting up your right hand and saying this thing to ward off evil spirits?:lol:

omg you should have seen the faces! There were like 50 + people in the inside waiting room (there are two waiting rooms, one in and one outside) and they were glued to that tv with their eyes popping out when the sad guy walked away with the paper.

Did they make you say "Hamza al enake"? I tried to spell it like it sounds.

My hubbie says that almost every time we talk. If I tell him that someone told me how cute our little boy is...he'll say it. I think I've posted on here before that my husband had me to put up a silver plate with the "hamza" hand that has the eye in the palm. I had to post it on the wall that faces the front door.... it's supposed to keep out the "evil eye".

I honestly don't remember. They gave me so many things to say I can't remember them all. He also had me say something to him each time after we prayed...it's supposed to mean let's pray together in mecca or something like that. I'm not good at remembering things unless they're written down but I was too hot to even think over there. lol

That is kind of funny. I don't remember the TV, but maybe we just didn't pay it any attention. Or maybe they roll it out when the DV interviews are done????

Also, we weren't waiting very long before we got called to the window. But, that would have been an interesting video to see.

There were two waiting areas. When you first go to the visa area there is an outside waiting area with some chairs. We at first bypassed that and headed inside and we were told that we needed to wait outside until we were called. After the first couple of hours I was thirsty so the man let me go to the bubbler to get some water. That's when I first saw the tv. It was air conditioned inside too.

When they finally called us and the lady took some papers from him and told us to sit down, we then had the choice of either sitting inside, where the tv/video was, or back outside. That's when we saw the video played over and over again. It was a/c in there so originally I wanted to stay but then after watching the video I decided we should wait outside in the heat instead of freakin' out watching the sad guy walk away with the paper with no visa.

Oh. OK. Yeah, I definitely remember the 2 waiting areas. We have been there twice, plus I have been to the other side, American Services about 3 or 4 times. We waited inside the whole time (except for cig breaks), but maybe you had to sit outside cause there were a lot of people there? That sucks. Especially because of the heat!!!! OMG, I am so glad we didn't see that video. It sounds depressing.

How do I know he was not denied? Everyone else had their passports kept. I mean he paid the DHL fee and they don't keep the passport???? Makes no sense.

And it's NOT ok. That was downright rude and inappropriate to ask about our sexlife. What's next if this is acceptable behavior? What position we prefer? Should we just bump uglies on the freakin' counter for proof?????? You have no idea how I'm trippin' over that question. My husband alhumdulilah kept his cool and stated that we waited till after we were married but ONLY 'cause I coached him that he should suck whatever they give him up but had I not done that and were that anyone else he would have ###### slapped the mofo. :ranting::ranting:

This is not an unusual question. We were asked the same thing 5 years ago for AOS here at our local office.

How can one claim God cares to judge a fornicator over judging a lying, conniving bully? I guess you would if you are the lying, conniving bully.

I agree that this sort of question should not be asked, but I have heard of it happening in other countries too. Usually countries with strong cultural norms. I think once it happened to someone interviewing in India, a place where sex outside of marriage is still strongly frowned on. So they may ask to find out if the relationship was based on sex or love. But I rarely hear about that question being asked so it might just be a rare occurrence.

It happened right here in California, too, so it really doesn't matter who, what, when, or where.
