We don’t know if the SA divorce is valid or not… but they did get divorced in two different places.
You are missing the facts:

1.) USCIS and NVC accepted the South African divorce certificate

2.) He married wife #2 in 2016… 3 years after he entered the US. It is unclear if you could say he obtained the GC through marriage… and was not eligible to petition wife #2 without a waiver

He got his GC through DV not marrying a USC.

Certainly a fun case for the interviewer

I am surprised they waited until they entered on their DVs to get divorced. Usually  fraudsters get divorced before they enter on their immigration visa.

Really? What's the advantage of doing this?

I suspect it is mostly familiarity with their own country’s divorce system. Some U.S. states have longer cooling off periods too.

Today I woke up to a status update: my N400 interview has been scheduled!!! August 30th at 8:00 am!!!

Anyhow, I was planning on bringing my copy of the 751 package, and updated evidence of the N400 from the time Of submission, and of course the documents they request in the letter. Any suggestions are highly appreciated!!

Congrats!  Did you request a combo interview with the pending I-751?  If not, I would suggest doing that now to avoid the problem that some have encountered at the N-400 interview, where the officer says that the "I-751 case file is not here, we will need to request it."

I doubt it. How will they know about my plans to travel, when USCIS doesn’t even have my new passport number?

Oh yeah!! I mean I already told him to let work know he’s going to be late that day, but yeah I forgot to make that clear here!

I went with my hubby and I was not allowed to go In. I had to wait in the car he was in there like 30 minutes. He had his packet They did not look at  He wax sworn in and then took the test and passed. This was on 6/21 and the oath ceremony is scheduled for 8/24

Seems IO's have the discretion to approve without actually interviewing the spouse.  Our IO chose to conduct the I-751 portion of the combo interview.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
