I-864 Joint Sponsors & Domiciles

Hi all, 

 

Probably silly question, but humor me

 

If my joint sponsor for my husband's I-864 form is in the US - do I still have to prove my domicile in the US as well? I am outside of the states but should have enough to prove domicile still as it's only been a few years and we still file taxes, have bank accounts, etc. etc. But I'd love to be lazy and not need to type up that statement if it isn't truly required lol.

As petitioner u do have to prove US residency

not a type -up statement

copy of bank account

copy of state DL or ID

Yes.  It is required.  All petitioners must have domicile in the US or evidence to prove intent to re-locate back to the US.   Green Cards are for living in the US.

Your leisure time or living with your spouse. Pick the one you value more. 

 

Assuming the latter, not only do you have to show domicile, you have to be physically inside the U.S. before or at the same time your beneficiary arrives in the U.S.
