Traveling outside USA before green card expires

Hello, I got a question. My 2 years conditional Greencard will expires on April 2024. Can I travel to outside USA before my Greencard expires, let's say I will be traveling outside US on March 2024 for weeks. I will be still coming back before the expiration date? Thank you

It seems like you do not plan to file I-751 before you leave the U.S., hence the strange question. 
 

With one exception, I have yet to see a case of an LPR — whose 2 year gc expired — successfully re-enter the U.S without a valid extension letter.  Miraculously the embassy issued a boarding foil.

 

Maybe you will be the first.

 

Understand that DoS and CBP have zero sympathy.

 

I just cannot imagine why Conditional

LPRs put themselves in this situation when with little effort they can file I-751 and get a 4 year extension.

I'm planning to only travel 2 weeks to outside US and will mail out immediately my ROC/i-751 application once I arrived back the US which it will be a month before my GC expires.

 

This was just a plan, I haven't even buy a ticket yet until I give birth of my 2nd baby on September 2023. 

 

So, one more question to clear up my overthinking mind. If I file the I-751 before I travel, when I get the extension, can I travel outside US and when I reenter the US, I will just show the POE officer the extension letter?

You will show the officer your gc and extension letter. You need to show both to the airline to have any hope of boarding the flight to the U.S.

Zero sense to anyone because no one knows the reason yet. 

 

It was just a plan for the travel dates and for when I file the application, I can file when the 90 days window starts. That's why I'm asking at the very first place to hear anyone options and opinions 🙂

Just file I-751 the day your 90 day window opens- you'll get the NOA / extension within a couple of weeks and are safe.
