Hello, I'm looking for advice. My wife who became a US citizen last year has been diagnosed with a critical illness. We were looking at our best options to have her mother come here for a short time to help care for her? What would be the best route and what would be the likely timeline, would there be any circumstances that would speed up the process?

Medical Emergency
Purpose of travel is to obtain emergency medical care, or to accompany a relative or employer for emergency medical care, or to visit a relative suffering from an immediate, life-threatening medical condition.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Be careful.  There is a distinction of visiting a relative who is in critical medical condition versus caring for (working as a caregiver) the person who is in critical medical condition.

She will need to apply for a B visa, like anyone else who wants to visit.

Doesn’t sound like OP qualifies on that basis.

Well the purpose wouldn't be just to visit. But, we wanted someone close who could help take care of her in this stage of her illness. More of a caregiver rather than a visitor.

I would not go in that direction, no obvious visa for that.
