Netherlands killing people for being autistic or mentally handicapped

Autism is not "curable."  Neither are intellectual disabilities.

And as incurable conditions, they are now considered a legitimate reason for state-assisted suicide.  [...]

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

Quote

If the minor patient is aged between twelve and sixteen years and may be deemed to have a reasonable understanding of his interests, the physician may cant’ out the patient’s request, provided always that the parent or the parents exercising parental authority and/or his guardian agree with the termination of life or the assisted suicide. The second paragraph applies mutatis mutandis.

Not so much considering that intellectual disabilities will most likely rule out the reasonable understanding.

Find the guidelines on this Dutch government site: https://www.government.nl/topics/euthanasia/euthanasia-assisted-suicide-and-non-resuscitation-on-request
And some more detailed information here: https://wfrtds.org/dutch-law-on-termination-of-life-on-request-and-assisted-suicide-complete-text/

Not sure why so many Americans have such a big issue when it comes to assisted suicide, I think we should have the right to choose to wait until something like cancer, MS, .... finishes off or call it quits when life no longer seems to be worth living

amazing how eugenics and it's nazi cousin keeps coming back again and again
in the usa in early 1900's in the usa, we had something called eugenics. "By the 1920s, eugenics had become a global movement. There was popular, elite and governmental support for eugenics in Germany, the United States, Great Britain, Italy, Mexico, Canada and other countries. Statisticians, economists, anthropologists, sociologists, social reformers, geneticists, public health officials and members of the general public supported eugenics through a variety of academic and popular literature."

Here is allow MAID works now in Canada, using my cousin as an example.

My cousin is pushing 60 snd has Down Syndrome.

When his father brings him to the doctor for check ups, the receptionist asks my uncle if they would like the doctor to evaluate his son for MAID today.

Uncle: “I will not consent to ending my son’s life while he is enjoying it.”

Receptionist, disappointed: “Well sorry, we have to ask”

Really why? Because of his IQ? Considering how stupid the average person is, and that half of everyone is stupider, that’s a lot pf lethal injections to be offering if that is the criterium.

I think there must be a MAID bounty or something.

I agree with assisted suicide as a concept, and wish my father could have had it in Canada over a decade ago as he desired. But the implementation is now there to reduce costs to the public, not to end suffering.
