Hi everyone, I did a search on the VJ site before posting but all the posts I found were pretty old.  My husband has a green card but his Moroccan passport has expired.  Would he be allowed to travel from the US to Morocco to renew it there?  Thanks so much!

Probably not up to  the Airline, is this a direct flight?

He needs to renew it  before traveling/airlines say unexpired passport and good for at least 6 months

the process is for the Morocco embasssy in the US to send all to Moroc for the renewal and then back to the US embassy /self addressed envelope was needed to mail one here to TN from embassy in DC /now one site says u must apply to NY embassy in person and i am not sure how true that is as we did it thru the mail 3 years ago

For information on the conditions for issuing passports by the Embassies and Consulates General of the Kingdom of Morocco abroad, please visit the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation www.consulat.ma

Yes, I saw that site too that said about applying in person in New York.  There are a lot of sites that have information about the embassy/consulate but they don't look like the official site.  I think the link you sent is the official one.  We will contact the embassy to find out the next steps.  But I noticed if you just want to message them you have to start a sort of inquiry and provide all of your personal information.  I didn't see anything that just outlined the procedure. We will check with them and I'll update you all.  Thanks!

I don't think it's up to the airline either.  It most likely would be a direct flight though.

Another Country is not going to accept an expired passport.

airlines will likely deny boarding. they will not take that chance.. may be he can swim himself to morocco if that is possible without passport control

If he is traveling with the Royal Air Maroc direct from the USA to Casablanca, there will be no issues with an expired Moroccan passport. He will not even need to present his green card during check-in.

to be on the safe side, I would recommend to contact the airline e directly and get clarification from them directly. I would not go with what people say. Get your info from the airline directly.

I will!  A friend of my husband (also Moroccan) wanted to leave the country and has an expired passport AND expired national identity card.  He went to the moroccan consulate and they told him it would be 45 days to process the passport.

first, they have to renew the Moroccan ID card,  that can take 8 weeks to do so, once receive the new ID Card, then can renew passport by mail with NY Moroccan consulate.

I just went through this last week with Moroccan consulate in NY on the phone.
