I am not sure I would be keen on mentioning it to my Employer, I would want to give myself plenty of time to get things sorted.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I reached my max # of replies yesterday.

Thanks for the comments around informing employer, and I would like to clarify my thoughts a bit -

My employer does not have a policy requiring disclosure of situation like mine - that’s comparatively lenient.

This is however different from how they might react if I voluntarily tell them - this could vastly different by specific individuals handling the information.

The reason I’m asking in the OP re I-129S is that if I don’t need a new one, then, there is chance that I can handle this myself - if so, I would not risk the uncertainty of their reaction.

My first thought was the unknown timescale, nothing seems to be quick, how long do you have?

Indeed … I can manage to get one month, which may be ok per sharings of experiences in India - but not sure about China.

You would need to have a Plan B, even it was India you may have a feel for the average but you do not know how long your case would be.

Plan B will be, I guess, telling the employer … they might not be supportive, same as if I tell them now I suppose …

All you can do is try.
