I-130 Mailing Address Question

Hi All,

I have a question regarding mailing address on the I-130 form. I'm currently a USC living abroad in Poland for the past 3 years, and I'm a little stumped on what I should put my mailing address as.

Basically, I still use my parents house as my US mailing address and for conducting business in the US, and I use my current address in Poland for my business here.

Should I use my US one since it may make a stronger case for  proving domicile when we get to the I-864 process? Or is there the issue that stuff from USCIS may get sent there in the future?

Thank you!

I suggest you use your parents address for mailing address. They send documents there. The NOA1 and Approval notice. It won’t make your case stronger or weaker because you only have to prove domicile at NVC stage. The I-130 petition is just showing your relative qualifies for a visa.

Thank you for the response! That actually helps. Since they send documents to this address I think in this case, I will put my Polish address since I'm still living over here. Thank you!

I only suggest this because the mail to Poland will take ages… and if you file online you get the same documents in your USCIS account. We moved while our I130 was pending (and you can’t change your address online if it’s a foreign address)- so getting our physical approval notice was a chore because we had to wait on the new tenants.

The petition shows the relative qualifies to "apply for" a visa.

Definitely use the US mailing address.  They may or may not even SEND the mail to Poland.  You need this mail and in a timely manner.

Ah okay, thank you for the responses! I will do that then.

Just one more question then - once my parents receive these documents, will I need the physical copies? Or would just having photos my parents send me be enough?

I've read NOA1 is an important document, but I'm just wondering how important it is to have the actual copy on me?

Thank you again!

ur parent can keep/save it for you. They can scan it and you have the soft copy. it also uploaded in USCIS account, so you can download it from there aswell.

U don’t need to have actual copy on ur hand all the time.but it won’t hurt ur parent keep it for you until u met them. I alaways safe all paperwork that I got from USCIS even though I can download it / have the soft copy
