Hi! We've been waiting almost five months for an interview (IR1 visa- manila) and still haven't heard. I've been living here with my wife for almost four years now but now my work needs me to return home to the States ASAP. I understand contacting the NVC about an expedite is a total crapshoot and my visa agency (RapidVisa) recommended that I contact the embassy directly about an expedite, which I did earlier today via their "case-specific visa inquiry form".

How long does it usually take for an embassy to respond to inquiries? I'm not expecting anything over the next few days, but am I looking at a week or a month or more?

The consulate will, likely, tell you to contact NVC, as that is where your case is.  Good luck.  I hope you resolve the issue soon.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Ugh. Should I just go ahead and contact the NVC too? Or should I wait for a response?

This entire situation is beyond ridiculous.

Look for your congress representative, and Have your congress send a special request with your case. They’ll reply them faster

That’s a waste of time. Several senators and representatives have contacted them and get a generic response every time… blah blah…
