I am a permanent US resident (UK citizen) and I am attempting to file the I-130 for my 21 year old son, me and his mother were never married but we lived together for the first 8 years of his life, and I have supported him emotionally and financially through his first 18 years and beyond (the bank of dad never closes) I'm confused as to what evidence I need to provide to demonstrate our relationship and my support of him, the application process is frustratingly vague, is there a template of a statement that I can ask his mother to sign? or any other suggested evidence I can use for the application.

His mother and I had a private arrangement for my financial support of him, therefore it was never formally documented, so in the absence of official documentation would a written statement cover it?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Birth Certificate

Bank Statements showing Child Support payments, was the private agreement documented.

Doctors records, School records that sort of thing.

Presumably you know this is not a quick process.

thank you, yes I realize its a long process and if he had made his decision a few months ago before he turned 21 it would be a different situation, but here we are...

I have his birth certificate and his UK registration of birth, I was just unsure how I go about providing further evidence if more is required, the agreement between him and his mother for child support was never documented but I guess I could ask her to get bank statements which show the payments, and naturally we have photographs of us together.

You may eventually need to do a DNA test, but the consulate will let you know if they want that.

Be sure he knows that he needs to stay unmarried to be eligible for a visa.

Normally they will issue a RFE.
