My case is “Ready”, can I submit the DS160?

Hi everyone! 🙃

I received a case number from NVC through email yesterday. I found one website that says the next step is to login to CEAC to pay fees and submit forms, is that right?

Because I read on another website that the next step is to fill out DS-160.
I’m confused. 😕

Another thing is… if the next step is to login to CEAC, they are asking for an “invoice ID number”, and I don’t have it. What can I do? Are they going to send me that yet? 😥

Thank you!!!

No.  Those are instructions for immigrant visas such as a CR-1/IR-1.  For K-1 cases, NVC simply assigns a case number, then forwards the case to the appropriate consulate when requested by the consulate.  No action is required at NVC for a K-1.

Perhaps, you should read the K-1 guide and flowsheet here on VJ.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Ah!

Thank you very much for the explanation and the link! :)

Sorry to ask you, but the steps doesn’t say when to fill out the DS-160. Can I submit it now or I need to wait until I receive a letter from the embassy?

If your CEAC status is "Ready", you can.  You need that DOS case number from NVC to check.

Hi!

I just put my NVC case number on the website and the status is “ready”. Can I submit the DS-160 already or I need to wait until I receive a mail from the Embassy?

I didn’t do the doctor part yet.
Sorry. I’m confused. 😅

Thanks!!!

Yes you can submit your DS-160 form. You can’t schedule medical until you receive packet 4 with instructions from embassy.
