4. This month I learned there is a ferry service between Bahamas and Florida. Bahamas has a visa waiver for green card holders. I do not recommend flying from Bahamas to the U.S. because flights to U.S. go through CBP pre-clearance, meaning CBP could stop @wateryourroses from boarding the flight. British Airways flies to the Bahamas.

Doesn't she need a visa for the UK, as a Pakistani national?

. I have asked through 3 different sources in the immigration office and all of them have told me that I will not be able to board the flight because I haven’t exited within 180 days, regardless of the airline.

Can you explain this rule?

The airline will not let you board the flight because ?

For a transit, holding a green card, iatatravelcentre.com is your friend.

She is saying even if the airline lets her board, because Pakistan has formal exit controls, the immigration officer will deny her boarding. South Asian exit controls are a trip, and my pulse always elevates when going through them.

@wateryourroses says that she has been in touch with Pakistani officials and they won't let her board a plane leaving Pakistan because she hasn't done something in 180 days.  It was not clear.

3 different sources in the immigration office is what she said

and they didn't have her surrender the green card?

and so many here write that the embassy doesn't answer the phones or emails except genertic replies

Mike’s got it right. Sorry for the confusion everyone. I reached out to people in the Pakistani immigration office, not the US. It’s Pak exit controls that won’t let me board. I have already bought an outrageously expensive one way ticket to JFK and I am super pressed for $$ right now. The round trip to Qatar will cost me a pretty penny so my goal is to get on this flight. But if that doesn’t work out, would Qatar not have the kind of exit controls Pak has? Would I be able to successfully board the flight to the US with my GC without any issues? Or is being sent back from Qatar a possibility?

So Pakistan will let you board a round trip for Qatar but not JFK?

Qatari folks should want you to leave.  You are not their citizen and they are a big transit hub.

Call the airline - see if they will change one way to Doha-JFK.  Explain your exit problem.

Hi, I don’t know if people are still active here but the exit controls in Pakistan will not let me get through. Everyone keeps telling me to go to the embassy and “get a letter”. Is this possible? Is this even wise? Will I be able to present my case to the US Embassy and will they do anything for me, given that my classes are starting in August and I have full funding that I’ll lose if I don’t go? Because from what I hear from credible sources, going to the embassy will work against me. I could think about booking a round trip to Qatar, but again, I have no idea about exit controls in other countries. I read someone’s post on reddit that they were stranded in Istanbul because Turkish airlines won’t let someone board with an expired 10 yr GC and a renewal receipt. I am honestly so sad and so tired at this point. I wish I could just someone explain that none of this was my fault.

They will not let you go on a holiday to Doha or Maldives?

After 9 years? Waste of time, IMHO.

Find a way to get out of Pakistan first.

I don't wanna confuse OP but I have a genuine question: when she tries to renew the 10 year GC, could that "abandonment" be a problem?

If she is admitted as a returning resident, doubtful.
