Got DQ but also received RFE for not meeting income requirements

Finally received my DQ yesterday and received the email. However when I checked my application I also noticed that I received a RFE saying I do not meet the income requirements. I am a little confused because I overwhelmingly meet the income requirements for my wife. I also provided multiple years of tax transcripts and current pay stubs.

Has anyone experienced this? Is this issue settled at the interview?

thank you all for your assistance.

If you are DQ'd, then you did not receive an RFE.  It sounds like the (extremely) common RE note NVC frequently annotates.  If you are DQ'd ignore it.   Can you post a screenshot?

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

OK.  This is good.  If you are certain you exceed the requirements, just ignore the notice.

Thank you for your help! Unless I am wrong correct me, but if we are sponsoring 1 person we just have to meet an income of 24,650?

if this is true then my salary exceeds this requirement.

NVC sends this same notice to many going through the process.  The final decision regarding the I-864, and whether or not the sponsor's income is sufficient, will be made at the consulate/embassy visa interview, a judgment call by the officer, based on the "totality of the circumstances."  Officers have discretion, the minimum income levels are only guidelines, and being over does not guarantee approval.  If your income is only marginally higher than the minimum, this may be the reason you received the notice, suggesting that you get a joint sponsor lined up in case the officer doing the visa interview asks for one.  By how much does your income exceed the minimum?  Is your income from self-employment?

I am a government employee. Currently I am making over 60,000 from that position, but I also work part time at an auto supply store. So depending on how much I work my income fluctuates between 68,000 - 72,000.

We got this exact message when we got DQ'd in April. Had no issues at the interview today, they didn't even ask about a joint sponsor or anything financially related other than what my wife does for work and if she still will be getting same income when moving back to the States.

You should be good 👍 Good luck to you and your spouse!
