they are saying an extension notice was not issued for my case.

That is bizarre.

Is my best bet to wait for this “urgent” appointment? What are the chances I can even get a stamp by Monday!

Ask to start July 26, and ask to take an unpaid vacation from July 26 to July 30.

By July 31, I expect your SS card will arrive.

BTW, regarding,

called USICS and spoke to Tier 1

There are reports of difficulties getting a Tier 1 on the phone.

1. What did you say and/or key in to the automated attendant to get a live person?

2. When did you call?

That’s so smart! I should ask to start July 26 and take unpaid vacation.

I kept saying “Infopass appointment” and I called around 5 pm EST. Took two tries!

Does anyone know why the NOA1 comes separately from the other two letters sometimes??

I have never seen an NOA1 come after a physical biometric letter for I-751.

For N-400, the electronic waiver of biometrics is usually delivered the same day electronic N-400  is filed.

There is something really off with your case.

Speculation: the NOA1 for an I-751 is printed on light green water marked paper, and perhaps there is a supier chain issue.

Reading this forum it seems like there are cases where the NOA1 came after the biometrics! I have no idea why. I am hoping I get the 72 hour call to get a stamp or I will try to walk-in.

It's certainly possible that you may receive NOA1 after biometrics, as USCIS seem to be super fast with booking biometrics appointments lately. My electronic biometrics letter and extension notice were issued on the same day this month, but I haven't had the biometrics letter yet. Two letters sent out on the same day may not necessarily arrive on the same day, and I'm putting it down to USPS delays.

That being said, is there a way you can bring the start date forward? A green card conditional or not presented for a I-9 is a document that should not be re-validated. They can only do that for EADs and Work Visas. So if you can get yourself into a situation where you sign your I-9 on a day when your card is valid, then you should be good theoretically speaking. Of course, employers aren't always known for following the exact letter of the rules. So YMMV.

I think you should be able to get a stamp before the end of July, or you most certainly should have your extension by then. The SSN Card usually takes 2-3 weeks to show up I think.

You should also remind your employer that your have a currently valid Green Card and LPR work authorization does not expire. That should provide them sufficient reassurance that you will have your documents in order for I-9 by your start date.

I am thinking of sending them the green card and mentioning that I have applied for an extension and it has been accepted by USICS. I am just waiting for the extension notice.

I also came across this which says that employers are able to use receipts and give the person 90 days to come up with the documentation.

Definitely confirm to them that you currently have a valid green card, but also it may be worth explaining the RoC process to them and that your work authorization would only ever end with a final order of removal. It's just the proof of status that can get a bit awkward during this process. Regardless either way I would be stunned if you didn't have some form of proof of status by your start date. Hopefully they're willing to exercise some flexibility here.

Waiting for these letters is definitely causing a lot of anxiety! SSN was mailed out June 13th so I am not sure what is taking the mail so long!

Have put in three requests to talk to a Tier 2 officer about scheduling an infopass and they keep sending me generic emails about I751 process and extension notices. Still no letters, unfortunately.

My extension notice came!!!! ❤️ 🥳  🎉 I’m so happy! I would have preferred the ssn but it’ll take what I can get. It looks like there was a 4 day lag between the deliveries!!

Congrats.

Use of the extension letter for I-9 means your employer will have to re-verify you when the extension expires.

You want the unrestricted SS card for I-9. That is your plan A
