This is so true.  With Biden and the establishment running things, Xi knows he can do whatever he wants and he knows how the US will respond.  With Trump there was no prediction.  So what do we do in the US, we elect a laughingstock wannabe dictator in 2020.

 

If anybody thinks (a la Lindsey Graham) that American aid to Ukraine has kept Xi from invading Taiwan—well, that’s a joke.  Xi Jinping does NOT fear Joe Biden.  He laughs at him, like everybody else in the world.

The incursions into Taiwan’s Air Defence Zone are more annoyances than anything else.

 

To mount a full-scale invasion, China will need to mass surface transportation and troops close enough to the Taiwan Strait. There is no way that will go unnoticed.

 

Add to that the distance Chinese forces will need to travel, the Strait is 130km at its narrowest, and the size of the problem becomes clearer. This is close to the distance travelled by the Allied forces to make the D-Day landings.

 

If China were about to stage an operation of that size, someone might notice.

noticing is one thing, interdicting that fleet is another.  knowing how bureaucratic things are in washington now, we'd finally make a move to do something about it a week after it happened.

which is whjy these flights are concerning.  they are to gather intel for planning.  knowing what radar frequencies to jam, what paths have the least coverage, and d-day will happen again.

If you think the Chinese don’t already know this information, you would be mistaken.

 

If you think the aircraft that Taiwan sends up to monitor these incursion use active sensors to do so, you would also be mistaken.

 

QRA flights routinely blank any active scanning, because GC can do the job for them without giving away the farm.
