whoever imputs data is poor at the job

the case status during this time should say "Refused"  so don't be surprised if that is the next update post u see

all embassies are now using the term refused while the case goes thru administrative processing

Why are you so sure I’m in administrative processing? The officer told me I’m approved and they still have my passport. Is it 100% AP?

Because this time is called AP (administrative processing)

either to create the visa and attach to the passport

OR

to review the petition and documents for extra security

its just the time space time from interview to visa -if approved

Thanks, I sent them an email. I heard they are really busy with graduation and travel season, could that play a role in my visa taking longer to process?

Probably not, especially since your dad's name triggered some type of alert.  People from extremist countries often go through additional vetting, so it is not surprising.

You could post a question on the embassy forum here and ask people who were recently approved how long it took to get their passport back. That’s what I did.

So just for additional information, my interview was June 6, on June 8 the date updated on CEAC but no status change, on June 12 it said non-immigrant Application Received. It has been exactly 1 week since this status change. So this means I am in administrative processing that will take a long time and the embassy doesn’t tell me why and they keep my passport when i am in a country far away from home. I am from iraq, my case was transferred to Turkey by NVC, after Turkey got my case they had no interview dates so I transferred to Oman, Oman accepted my case and I was told my visa was approved by the officer and now I have to wait for a couple months while I’m in Oman?

Again, nobody knows how long it’ll take. If it takes months, then yes. Or as was already mentioned before, you can request your passport back to travel but I imagine that complicates matters.

From the US Embassy Oman page:

At the end of your immigrant visa interview, the consular officer will inform you whether your visa application is approved or denied. You will also be informed how and when your passport and visa will be returned to you.  Carefully review the information on the Fiancé(e) Visa Process on usvisas.state.gov to learn what to do when you receive your visa, entering the United States, and other important information.

Some visa applications require further administrative processing, which takes additional time after the visa applicant’s interview by a consular officer. Applicants are advised of this requirement when they apply. Most administrative processing is resolved within 60 days of the visa interview. When administrative processing is required, the timing will vary based on the individual circumstances of each case.  You can check the status of your visa application on ceac.state.gov.

Depends on the situation.

For Countries with no embassy (Russia, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan)- applicants are automatically sent to  a "sponsoring" consulate but applicants can request they're moved because they do not want to wait, there are no appointments, they have residency/ties to another embassy and feel more comfortable interviewing there. No real red flags.

My ceac status still showing "Ready ". Already 2 months now. No updates but they replied to my emails. They said "Your file has been submitted to the Visa Officer with the updated documents. We will contact you as soon as the review is completed.

Update: CEAC says case approved today. Any idea what that means.

The consular officer has approved your application subject to final processing by the consular section that is necessary to issue your visa. When that processing is complete, the status will change to "Issued". However, a final screening step must still be completed prior to issuance that could lead a consular officer to conclude that you are not eligible for a visa. If that occurs, the consular officer will notify you that your application has been denied and your status will change to "Refused".

what is that final screening?
