Hello, we have finally gotten an approval after a year wait and have run into a bit of a pickle. When I was applying for my husband we were in Bali on a 1 year visitor visa. We had just gotten our NVC welcome letter and our embassy is listed as Jakarta. How valid is this decision? And is there a way to change it, if so at what point should I try to change our embassy. We are currently in Georgia for the last 2 or so months and have heard that people had luck with Kazakhstan and Israel. My husband's English is not that bad and I feel that if needed we can try to transfer to a country where the interview will be held in english. Please, also advice which embassies are the best to try and transfer to where he won't need a visa.

Thank you!

You can change the consulate at the NVC stage.  Fill in the DS-260 with your current address, and submit a letter requesting assignment to a new consulate.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

All US consular officers speak several languages in addition to English,

The "several" is not completely true but, more importantly, the languages they speak -- unless they are at the Embassy where the official language(s) is/are that of the visa applicant -- may not match what the applicant speaks.

What nationality is your husband?  This may be a factor.  Normally, you need some tie stronger than just a tourist visa to transfer your case to another country.  A major exception right now is Russian applicants, which I believe is your husband's nationality, but wanted to pose the question, just in case.

Hello, my husband is from Belarus getting a shengen is near impossible unless its a work visa. Before the war in Ukriane our default embassy was Poland. We had originally thought we would be trying to transfer from Poland and did not expect to get Jakarta. We had Bali to Georgia because we had heard that a lot of russians and belarusian had luck transferring their case to Kazakhstan. I guess in hindsight we should have stayed in East Asia but who would have known.

Edit: sorry I'm just trying to fit a ton of information which may help so maybe it sounds like im blabbering.
