DS-260 and passport expiry

Hi Everyone,

When I initially started my immigration process I had over a year left on my passport before it expires.

I am now busy completing the DS-260 application and my passport is sitting at just over 3 months before it expires.

I have stared the process of getting a new passport, which in hindsight I should have stared earlier, but it is what it is.

To not delay thing any further I am considering completing the D-260 with my current passport while I wait for my new one which I am only expecting in about 2 months due to delays at home affairs.

I will of course keep both with me and take both if and when an interview is scheduled.

From a previous post on this site which I read, this is what was suggested as well.

My question is if anyone else here has experience similar and what they did in their situation?

Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you.

D

As far as im aware you can bring both passports to your interview. The valid passport will be the one they issue the visa to.

I had a similar situation but luckily got my new passport around the time I submitted my DS-260. I uploaded a scan of the passport I used when we submitted our I-130 and made a note on the terminal.

As long as you have both at the interview you'll be fine!
