@HaeZee do you mind sharing which hotel you stayed at please. Looking for options close by.

Not the person you're asking, but I would recommend Holiday Inn at Rene Levesque and Crescent.  I stayed there in July on a business trip and it's 9 minute walk from the consulate (I went to scope it out in my downtime).  I plan on staying there when I have my interview.  It was $280/night.  Not cheap by any means, but cheaper than other options in the downtown of comparable quality.  You can get cheaper if you pick a worse hotel or forego walking and take the metro.

Should I get my immunization record translated?  Are they going to see it at the interview or at the medical exam?

Expand

Needed for medical. Not sure about immunity record translation. Another way is you can ask your family doctor to write a lab requisition for immunity tests required by US immigration. If  immunities are reactive then you are good and you need to take lab results to panel doctor. otherwise you will need to get vaccination for only those results with no immunity. TDAP/tetanus vaccination is valid for ten years

IR1: Documentarily qualified as of January 19th, 2023 with case sitting at NVC. I still haven't received an interview letter yet. Public inquiries seem to lead to the generic first come first served basis. Any suggestions on next steps?

Hi! Did you get your IL today?

Got my interview date today and I am super grateful to be close to the end!! My interview is on November 17th but if it was two days later (19th) it would fall on my husband and I's 2nd anniversary which would mean it wouldn't be a CR-1 at that point. I'm just curious if I should try to possibly reschedule for a few days later than the 17th or if it's really not that big of a deal/worth rescheduling?

Do not reschedule. It does not matter the date your interview. The important part is the day you cross the border on that visa. If it is before your 2yr anniversary it would be a CR1, 2yr anniversary it is a IR1.

If you enter after your 2yr anniversary and they send you a 2 yr GC you can get it corrected.

Ugh this gives me anxiety. You should have gotten one in today's batch. Now I am worried if I will get one next month since I was DQ'ed on July 10

Yeah I was frantically searching my email thinking it just got lost somewhere in Junk or Trash, but nah, I’m part if the unlucky ones. I hope next month I get one. I really don’t want to go to MTL during winter months 😩

Thank you! I ended up booking something (Hilton) in Midtown for around 160/night. It's further away but they moved my interview til 10:30 so I'll uber over.

I went to MTL for my medical and stayed at a hotel close by called Hotel Birks because it was a 3 minute walk to the Drs, but also because I was traveling to a city I'd never been before and wanted to make sure I was somewhere safe.  If you decide to stay in this hotel or any other hotels in the area, check travelocity first!  I got a really, really good deal on airfare from Winnipeg to MTL plus 2 nights in this hotel for next to nothing.  When I go to the Embassy I will be staying at St-Martin Hotel Particulier, same sort of situation with checking Travelocity, nice hotel and got a good price.

Side note also, if you're flying in.. I had a friend tell me that Ubers can cost onwards of $60, Cabs are $40 but there's a bus from the airport that goes straight downtown 24/7. I bought a 3 day Unlimited pass and it was I think $22. The bus goes from downtown to the airport and takes about the same amount of time that a cab/Uber would anyways!

I wish the process is more transparent. At least let us know our position in the queue. I also wonder if there are actions we can take just in case files fall through the cracks..

I read somewhere on here (I think about 4 pages back) that there’s no way to get to a human anymore if you try to call NVC. Someone’s been DQ’ed since January 🤔 I hope they got their letter today
