Hi all, l’m new here so excuse my ignorance but I have a question: Is it worth it to transfer my case to Canada from Lagos? Would it be processed according to DQ order? Ours is 1/30/2024.

Lagos is not better, I would probably say it’s worse. If you look at recent timelines, it’s about a 10 month wait for an interview letter.

This thread has (very unfortunately) been dying out somewhat.  People have not been requesting to be added to the tracking sheet so it's all gone quite quiet but there doesn't seem to have been many family based OR employment based interviews and many people are still stuck in DS5535 purgatory in Montreal.  Sad state of affairs!!!

Something weird is going on it's like all the embassies are like stuck in no IL's but for reaffirms, AP but hardly any new stuff. Ghana hasn't scheduled since February. Nigeria March Like WTH.
But Thanks for the info.

I don't disagree...interview letters seem to be slow and scarce of late!  I didn't realize the African consulates are running parallel to Montreal with so few!

I saw in a Reddit post and then subsequently on the mtl embassy site that as of end of last week they are working on IL’s for people DQ’d in March of 2024. So hopefully this week!

Got my interview letter for August 7th. Was Dq'd on March 14th. When we initially applied our visa category was CR-1. But it will be more than 2 years we have been married when i go to the interview. Does my visa category will remain CR-1 or will it change to IR-1? Will i have to tell the officer about this?

What ended up happening?

This is currently happening to me.

I believe it is IR-1, as I’m in the same boat. The NVC portal for me now says IR-1.

DQ’d March 4th, has anyone gotten any IL’s for March yet?

Your status will automatically update in the system from CR to IR and you'll get a 10 year greencard. It should be a non-issue, especially if you make your 2 year anniversary before your interview.

Our interviews were before we were married for 2 years, but less than a month out from our anniversary.  It goes by entry date - so if you enter the US to activate that visa after your 2 year anniversary, it updates.  We entered the US the day after our 2 year anniversary for this reason - we didn't want to have to remove conditions.
