You will not have to get all 3 doses before the interview. They just need to be started and up to date. So if he is ready for the second dose before the interview get it and bring proof. 3rd shot is 6 months after the 2nd and can be given stateside.

Thanks!  My doctor gave me a rapid vaccine where you get three shots within 21 days so I should be fully vaxed in time for my interview.

We had a baby before my spouse's interview as well. Probably doesn't hurt to upload the docs, but we didn't and it wasn't an issue. The officer asked if we had any children together but nothing beyond that.

Hey everyone,

 

I got my Canadian citizenship recently and have the interview next month. I uploaded my Canadian citizenship certificate and Canadian passport to CEAC immediately. My DS260 and courier service are registered with my old passport (and citizenship). I used my Canadian passport as ID for my medical exam. Is this going to be a problem? Can I just show up at the interview and mention that I am now a Canadian with my new Canadian passport? I'll bring my old passports and cut up PR card for sure.

 

Also, my mother's name is misspelled on my birth certificate, if I don't get a new one with her name spelled correctly, do you think I'll get the DS5535?

Question: when crossing as PR the first time, do we just tell the border guard this and present the visa/passport, or is there more we need to do?

Thankfully got a response and their February 23 comment was a typo, they meant January 23. Feels crazy that's a month away!

 

I know there's a list of what to bring to your medical on the NVC website, is that totally up to date? Is there anything else I need to bring?

 

• Your visa interview appointment letter with your case number or confirmation e-mail. 
• Your passport or your travel document 
• One (1) additional government issued ID
• Five (5) passport-sized color photographs (taken less than 6-months ago and date-stamped)
• A copy of your immunization records
• Your glasses/contact lenses (if applicable)
• Your list of medication (if applicable) 
• Your intended U.S. address

I went to Dr Cheema yesterday, just brought my passport, interview appt letter, driver's license, immunization records (originals), glasses. I am not taking any medication. They will make copies for themselves as needed. They don't take credit cards, so I brought cash for the exam ($355 for my age group) and was told that I needed a Tdap booster ($50) so I paid for that with my debit card. They will take your headshot there so you don't have to bring 5 passport sized photos. A nurse took my weight and height measurements and sent me to a room. Dr Cheema then came in to ask a dozen yes/no questions, took my blood pressure measurement, listened to my chest, asked me to read numbers from 1.5 ft away (like reading a book) and gave me the Tdap booster. After the 5 minute meeting with Dr. Cheema, you get sent to west coast medical imaging for xrays and lifelabs for blood samples, both are within 10 mins drive of Dr Cheema, you don't have to pay anything for these tests. Overall was a pleasant experience and took 3 hours from start to finish, mostly waiting and looking for parking at west coast medical imaging. West coast medical imaging is a walk in clinic, and for lifelabs your appointment will be made by Dr Cheema's clinic, usually within 2 hours after your appointment at Dr Cheema.

Something just occurred to me - did you submit your AoS before or after you had the baby?  We submitted ours before she was born so only the two of us are included in the calculation.

We hadn’t thought of that either, and only submitted a new Affidavit of Support after the baby was born due to some updates to our financials. I would guess it’s better to be safe than sorry and resubmit, even if the baby is the only change for you. But I’m far from an expert on what is required/recommended. I bet the question has been asked before somewhere on this site, so it might also be worth searching the forums.

Okay, good to know.  Thanks for your quick answer 🙂  I will go and seek more info.  My whole life has been a bit hectic since a little one has come along and I'm trying to make sure I get everything right because between this, her CRBA, and all the other appointments and paper works, it's been getting overwhelming at times.  

 

Do you happen to remember where you submitted the updated document?  On my CEAC, there is a section for Required Documents, where I added all the stuff they needed to DQ me.  That part is now closed and only portion for Optional Documents is open but it says those are for: Your country of origin and/or the U.S Embassy or Consulate you are visiting may require that you upload additional documents for review. You will be able to find country specific documents in the “Where to obtain documents” link. If additional documents are required, please upload them by clicking the “Add a Document” link below..

Yeah we uploaded them in the optional section. There is a menu that lets you select the type of document and a text box if you need to add more context.
