Just curious- do you know the MTL embassy has been requesting more evidence in a lost of cases?

crossing my fingers that it's a smooth process, my interview is in January and I booked a flight with travel insurance in case I need to move it back

Unfortunately, there is a reason the instructions from the DoS stay do not book any travel or make any moving plans until your passport with issued visa is in hand.  Ontarkie has posted the thread for the extended AP people.

To everyone here - if you've previously requested to be added to the tracking spreadsheet, make sure you tag and have the information updated.  We had amazing statistics back in 2018, but as time has gone on, they've become less and less, so less and less helpful to people going through the process.  It would be great to see a revitalization of the information!

My timeline has been updated - I wasn't sure who to update on that to get the details into the spreadsheet, though lol

Regarding Fees: does the MRV fee need to be paid before the interview? How about USCIS Immigrant fee? Is that (USCIS Immigrant fee) the fee we've already paid via I-130?

Something weird came today which got me all excited because I thought it was Montreal scheduling the appointment only to be let down - we were DQed on October 12th, yet today received an email from the NVC entitled 'Introduction to Document Collection' which retells the instructions for completing the NVC application. Is this normal to receive? I have completed the NVC contact form to see if they have sent it by mistake. Any thoughts appreciated!

For IR1/CR1, there is no MRV fee.  Just the immigrant visa (IV) fee, which you already paid to NVC before you got DQ.  Next is the immigrant fee, which is $220 to be paid to USCIS for plastic green card production.  You may pay the $220 immigrant fee anytime after you get the visa -- https://my.uscis.gov/uscis-immigrant-fee

My 37 week pregnant lizard brain is going into anxiety overdrive.  My interview is for January 29.  What happens if a really bad snow storm takes place on the date?  Do they reschedule appointments to a different date?

Do I need to bring my birth country passport to the interview?  Do they even care where I'm originally from?   (I am naturalized Canadian citizen since I was in my early teens).

Are they going to keep my documents?  e.g. Wedding certificate.  Should I get a second copy just to be on the safe side?

I can't help with the question about scheduling, but you should have copies of all your docs; they will review and keep the copies, and return the originals, from what I understand.

There's a question about previous nationalities in the DS-260.  Hopefully, you answered that question accurately?

Although they do care about your country of origin, previous passports are typically not required.  But if you're the type who's prone to anxiety like me, best to bring old passports anyway, just in case.

I remember answering  a question about my other citizenship and providing them with passport information.  Will be bringing my other passport with my just to be on the safe side.

Hi All,

I had my interview today and got approved.

As everyone suggested:

Uploading documents to CEAC portal prior to your interview - highly recommended.
Going more than 15 minutes to your appointment - NOT recommended (there was crazy wind and snow today and they still didn’t let anyone in)
No personal items - Only small locker for phones and wallet

My appointment was at 7:45 AM and i went there at 7:30 and they let me in.

After 20-30 minutes wait, i was called in and asked only for following documents:

- birth certificate
- marriage certificate
- police clearance
- passport

- passport size photo ( 2 X 2 )

And took my fingerprints.

After that i was told to wait for the main interview.

The officer i had was really friendly and asked following questions:

Who’s sponsoring you?
Where does my wife lives?
What does she do for living?
What is my relationship with my joint sponsor?

At the end she told me that she is approving my file and I will receive my passport in two weeks.

Overall much easier experience than what i was prepared for.

Always good to be prepared but my impression is that it is more of a verification and 2nd level check for your documentation than an actual interview.

Thanks everyone who helped me get prepared.

hi, thanks for sharing. Quick question, what do you mean by uploading documents to CEAC? Everything is already uploaded since submitting the application. Did you submit some additional documents?

We just got an email bumping our interview date from Jan 30 to Jan 12!!! Confirmed that with the consulate, and called to reschedule the medical exam to be done in time. Holy cow y'all, I'm shaking!
