Not a beer drinker, what is your experience with local hard liquor in Philippines that is made in Philippines and not imported.

I see they have a blended Whiskey for $3 per bottle, I mix with Coke Zero

The general consensus in the SE Asia region has been longer and harder handovers drinking local vs. imported liquor.  In my younger days, I found that generally to be true in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.  I rarely drink now so cannot speak for any of the newer stuff that has come out.

The United States is now a country obsessed with the worship of its own ignorance.  Americans are proud of not knowing things.  They have reached a point where ignorance, is an actual virtue.  To reject the advice of experts is to assert autonomy, a way for Americans to insulate their increasingly fragile egos from ever being told they're wrong about anything.  It is a new Declaration of Independence: no longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident, we hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that arent true.  All things are knowable and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other.  The fundamental knowledge of the average American is now so low that it has crashed through the floor of "uninformed", passed "misinformed", on the way down, and now plummeting to "aggressively wrong."

Same company makes a $3 bottle of rum too

I noticed liquor is still dirt cheap in Philippines.

Marlboro Cig used to be like 40 peso a pack and Philippines brands were like 20 peso for a 20 pack, I see they have put a sin tax on them and went sky high

I'm fine with just default Tanduay.  It mixes well and is cheap as hell.

I agree.  I am no connoisseur of fine booze but do tend to drink a fair amount of rum and consider cheapo Tanduay to actually be pretty decent rum by my own global amateur standards.

The ubiquitous Empi always packs a terrible hangover for me so I avoid it and the above mentioned Kung Fu will definitely kick your as-s in the morning.

I haven't really drank rum less in a Pina Colada

What do you mix it with?

I usually just buy a bottle of Johnny Walker Black at the bar/club and mix it with Coke Zero.

The better Tanduays I drink straight, with a coke chaser.

I haven't found any local liquor that didn't give me a terrible hangover. My wife has been in the US since 07 and we visit Phil's about every 3 years. I find it best to send a balikbayan box with plenty of assorted liquors ahead of time, we like to go during Fiesta. We also send "ladies drink" so everyone can enjoy. I've sent boxed wine, scotch, rum, tequila,  vodka, and brandy. The men in my wife's family and the neighbors really enjoy trying new selections. I also send shot glasses to avoid sharing one glass around the party table. A dart board and decks of cards are popular too.
