Hey my k1 visa recently got accepted, when I first out in the k1 visa we got a letter saying our payment got accepted along with a receipt. Should I have kept this paper or is it not required?

What do you mean?  is it the NOA-1 I-797 receipt from the I129F petition?

 

Save every shred of paper you get from USCIS.

I have a photo on my phone of it all, the date and number yes just not physically.

That's fine.  Just don't lose the approval notice (or any other correspondence from USCIS/DOS), or make paper/digital copies when you get it.  You'll need the NOA2 copy for AOS after US entry with K1 visa.

We’ve got the approval letter we just got saved somewhere safe, but just to confirm the receipt isn’t required for anything right?

Normally, no.

 

But if USCIS looses your case or takes an abnormally long time to approve, it may be needed to locate your file or used to expedite a new I-129F.

 

It is recommended to hold onto all correspondence for "just in case" scenarios.

The first NOA you receive is simply a receipt notice letting you know they are processing your petition.  It is not needed for anything else in the process.
