Hello beautiful people,

Visa type: spouse of US citizen

I am US citizen filing for my wife (Algerian citizen)

After a long and frustrating wait for i130 (for my wife) approval, I actually got approved on 31st of May, now I got an email from NVC with the account number and invoice number.

When I applied for i130 my wife lived in France so I put her french address but during the process she moved back to Algeria, so when I logged in NVC website I found: ("interview location: Paris")

1-So how can I change the interview location to Algeria?

2- and does this delay the interview date?

Thank you very much in advance.

Immediately contact NVC and request a change to the new consulate.  It could delay your interview date depending on the length of the NVC queue for your new consulate.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Should I contact them through public inquiry? Or is there any other way to do so?

Thank you in advance

Also I haven't yet filed the ds 160

I just got the NVC email

So if I file the ds 160 with the Algerian address would that be enough?

Public inquiry or direct email.  NVCInquiry@state.gov

DS-160 is for a K-1.  Your spouse will submit a DS-260.

No.  Your spouse will submit a DS-260 as part of the NVC process.

Hopefully, yes.  I would send a separate email, too.

I would pay the fee.  It is just a part of the process.  You still have several documents as well as the DS-260 to submit.

  • If your petition is being processed at the National Visa Center (NVC), contact the NVC to request the transfer.  NVC will transfer cases to another IV processing post if parties provide a written request along with the address in the requested country and the proof of eligibility (citizenship/legal residency in the requested country or other documentation). This can be provided at https://nvc.state.gov/inquiry.  In limited circumstances, NVC may need to contact you for additional eligibility requirements.  Note that transferring your case might not result in immediate processing as cases are processed in order based on the date the case became documentarily qualified.

you will probably have to include proof of residency in Algeria (resident card, passport, mail to address in Algeria etc)

they will change your number once it is completed but you can submit documentation while you wait for the approval

No.

You will need a new case number.  The first 3 letters are for the consulate  Because of the venue change, NVC will assign a new case number.
