Ways of slowing down the process?

First, I am so sorry for this news for you and your family.  I am not sure on slowing the process of the visa however I have experience with pancreatic cancer.  I do not want to be a downer or the bearer of bad news but I went through this less than two years ago with my Dad.  He was diagnosed in December and passed by July and that was with aggressive chemo.  Of course everyone is different.   My suggestion is to have your fiance attend the medical appoints with her Mom and discuss options and what they feel is the timeframe.  Explain the situation you are in with the visa to the doctor so they can explain what the different stages of this cancer can look like.  Again, I'm so sorry for this terrible news.

Oh that makes it easier! They should consider getting married now (via Utah if they can’t get married in her country for whatever reason) that eliminates the need to travel back and forth to US. And they only need to visit US in 2024 for the wedding celebration…  hopefully wife to be has esta or tourist visa already. If they’re living together with no rush to move to the States they can spend more time in her country with her mom.

Thanks for this @Redro This would probably be the best solution. She does have an ESTA I just hadn't read into at what stages of the process you can and can't use it as a way of entering. Unfortunately, the doctors further news this morning was that we are only looking at Months. It doesn't look like we will need to prolong anything.

I’m so sorry you and your partner are going through this. Thinking of you both at this time.

Thanks @maryliz and I am sorry for your loss. It is at a late stage, they are not planning on doing treatment, so we know it is just a matter of time. She's fairly young, and lived a very healthy lifestyle, so just figured it might be on the longer side of the typical life expectancy.

My Fiancé did exactly as you said this morning, and went to the doctors with her. They are only expecting months, so the visa is now 1 less thing to worry about.

Thanks for your help and support.

I'm so sorry about the news.

I just want to add incase it does become an issue, you can't marry on a k1 while delaying the process. You will become ineligible for the k1 and would have to switch to spousal. You can only marry after being granted and entering US on visa.
