When activating your IR-1 at POE

I have My IR-1 Visa Now, . the insert into my Canadian Passport..That is and I would like to

go to Tennessee for a quick trip.. and return to Canada and wait for my House to Sell..

I would fly out of Calgary and I guess would activate my Visa at a POE.. and get it stamped etc..

My question is ( for those that might have done this) can I return to Canada before I get the

Plastic Green Card.. or do I have to wait until I get this card 4 weeks later?

I know there are no travel restriction on a IR-1 ( other than be out of the country for more than 1 year)

but is that after you have received the Plastic Green Card in the Mail??

Has any one returned to Canada right after or soon after crossing, and any problems?

when you cross the border using your visa you will get a stamp in your passport that essentially is a temporary green card that is good for one year... this stamp will allow you to come and go across the border...

you don;t have to wait for the actual green card....

I haven't received my GC yet and I go back and forth all the time between Canada and the US with just the stamped CR-1 visa in my passport. Your fine to travel with just your stamped visa in your passport.

yep, all correct!! Belive it states right on stamped on visa it is good for 1 yr upon activation!! Travel to ur hearts content!

I can "fourth" it. I went out of US for a three-week trip only two weeks after I received an immigrant visa @ Montreal, and had it stamped @ Dorval PFI.

Thanks everyone, That is what I thought but my wife was worried, so I told her I would
