EAD approved - even with mistake

I posted a couple weeks ago that I was worried my hubby's EAD would be denied because when I mailed it w/ the AOS I applied as A6 and not C9. We called, and better yet, went for an infopass appointment last week to correc the mistake. We still haven't had an update, e-mail, or anything but when we went for another appointment today (to complain) the officer told us the EAD was approved on 7/23 - 4 days ago.

The officer from last week did his job - and he said they'd make a decision a week before the 90 days and that was exactly right. I'm so happy and relieved because even with my mistake my hubby got his EAD before the 90 days.

Thanks to VJ and everyone who helped and supported us. If it weren't for this site I never would have found the mistake and probably would have been denied.:dance:

It will be interesting to hear how long the EAD is valid for once you receive it. Others that I have read about submitted for an EAD with (a)(6) were approved but when it was received it was only valid for a few days (dependent on when the 90 days ended). It depends on the circumstances of whether the whole packet is rejected, denied or approved (based on the a6).

Regardless, I hope the code was somehow changed for you and the EAD is based on the ©(9) instead of (a)(6).

Yea, I know what you mean. But that would mean that they are issuing my husband an expired EAD because his I-94 expired about 6 weeks ago.

USCIS could very well do that. However, since we went to immigration, put in the order, and were approved, I'd imagine that it is probably not expired. I know of another girl who was told at her infopass appointment that her EAD (she made the same mistake) will most likely not be denied - just delayed.

Let's hope this EAD is good.

If they issued my hubby an expired EAD then they're as dumber than I thought. But, I think it's better to reapply for an expired EAD then a denied one.
