I know......a lot of other people are probably in the same situation as me, so I have no right to complain, but I am getting so blue about the lack of progress on my AP. It has been 131 days and I have already cancelled one trip home (my dad is sick - and to get an emergency AP I need his doctor to say how long he will live for - well he already had one heart attack, so it won't be long, but I'm sure most of you understand, I dont want to ask my dad for a letter from his doctor saying how long he will live for!!!)

I got a receipt date of Nov 22nd. I got an RFE for a medical for my I485 - I asked them when I called if it would delay my AP and they said definitely not (okay, I know now that this is BS and had I discovered this fabulous website with it's wealth of information I would have hurried up with this).

Anyway, I got a message that they received my medical 23rd Feb. and then nothing. until Friday - we were touched 31st March. But still nothing. we had our congressman look into this - and despite replying to us instantly - it has now been 4 weeks and they say that they have called several times and had no response (is anyone suprised??)

So McCain is supposedly helping us - I hope this is why we were touched Friday.

I guess this e mail is multi foldedL

1. Anyone have ANY ideas if there is ANYTHING we can do to move this along

2. Anyone know if by being touched on Friday, after a month of inactivity is a good thing?

3. Alright - honestly - just any messages of good support and encouragement wouled be good right now.......

WE ARE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE ON OUR HONEYMOON IN 5 WEEKS........AND THEN I HAVE A TICKET TO ENGLAND

Hi Claire,

First off, so sorry to hear about your Dad's situation, I know how hard this must be for you.

My gut instinct is that a touch on March 31st is a good thing. I had my EAD and AP touched on March 31st after no touches since Jan 6th. My EAD was approved later that night around 7pm, there is no update as yet on the AP (although I have an emergency one issued, I dont know if this changes the application at the NBC or not). My applications were also delayed because of RFEs, one Medical, and like you I was assured that the AP would not be affected by this.....how wrong they were!! I wouldn't be too surprised if you find that your AP is approved within the next week. Of course, there is no guarantee, but I would certainly be slightly more optimistic since the 'touch.'

Also, consider getting an INFOPASS appointment if you haven't already. Explain the situation to them. I know it is difficult to get an Emergency AP issued, they are generally reluctant to do so, but they are also human. If you ask them to consider that you already have flights and travel plans booked and that you are very worried about your father's health, they might be helpful.

Apart from that I don't know what else to suggest. I really hope this works out for you.

Kate

I know govols got Emergency AP for her hubby to return to the UK. Maybe you could PM her and get the details on what she did.

Good luck to you, hope your dad will be ok. Mine just had open heart surgery, so I can sort of relate. (F)

I would go ahead and push your father's doctor so you can get the emergency AP. I think most doctors would help you out if you just tell them exactly what information is needed. I know it's kind of morbid, but it will be good for both you and for your father if you can go see him, and the doctor should understand that.

I hope your regular AP goes through really soon though, it must be a very frustrating and stressful situation :(
