Good to know. It will all depend on where my husband wll find work..wherever he goes, I'll go...lol, so we'll see. But Dallas area is on our top 10 list of places we would like to go.

Right now we are only 2.5 hours away and the jobmarket sucks here. And to get back to the topic, it isn't green at all....

Dallas is much greener than people give it credit for. Recycling rates here have skyrocketed since they introduced curbside recycling, public transportation usage is up, the air is MUCH cleaner than it was when I was a child even though they still have a way to go with that, and there is actually a lot of green space. Visitors don't often notice it because they're just not looking for it but believe me, it's there. I could rollerblade for miles along the city's hike and bike trails and not see a single car because the green spaces are that vast, and I could blade from slightly south of 635 all the way to White Rock Lake. That's pretty far.

The city is really trying and that is to be commended; a lot of cities haven't even done half of what Dallas is doing.

Too bad Iceland doesn't have a city called "Rekyjavik" (sic).

Not exactly an easy name to correctly spell.

Nope!

London has reduced its traffic congestion somewhat (in certain areas) as a result of the congestion-charging. I’m all for reducing traffic congestion up there (never understood why people drive in the city) and increasing reliance on public transport – but they surely need to come up with a revised method of road taxation instead of just saddling motorists with yet another tax (even today the high fuel prices in the US put the UK to shame).

They’re also looking to expand the congestion-charging zone as well – last I heard they were trying to move it out to cover Heathrow Airport as well which would net tens of millions from the volume of traffic that goes through the M-25 to M4. They’re doing it outside London to and various other UK have started their own pilot schemes. Seems to be a bit of a cash-cow for the local authority more than anything ‘really’ environmentally related.

Doesn’t really address the fact that the privatized public transport over there is horribly expensive, and isn’t altogether reliable.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Not the boundaries drawn on maps,

With the names of powerful men.

That's all I've wanted -

I heard that after an initial reduction in congestion, levels of traffic are about what they were before despite the congestion charge.

It's all well and good to try to push people onto public transportation but the fares are ridiculously expensive even with an Oyster card; it takes forever to get anywhere on a bus and the tube at rush hour is hopeless in many places.

What the UK needs to do is encourage businesses to set up shop outside of London. London's population density will only get worse and in another 20 years it'll be practically Dickensian!
