Hello guys, I just want to make sure ok?

I know that most fees will be increasing effective on or after July 30th.

So I suppose that the I-130 for K3 will be $355

Now my question is, how about for the I-129F for K3, is there any fee for that? or none?

Thanks!

If you file the I-130 with the new fee, then filing the I-129f for a K3 is definitely free. We don't know yet what will happen when people file the I-130 with the old fee and then file the I-129f without any fee after the 30th.

You may also find the math interesting. $355 happens to be just five dollars more than the two old fees added together.

Ah! Excellent math skills. :P I don't know why I never bothered to look to see how much the current fee for the I-129f is.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but don't you have to pay $355 for an I-129F even if you are going Cr1/Ar1 route?

Also, I-130 = $190 and I-129F = $170 for a total of $360. So new fees are $5 less and one less shipping fee because both applications can be sent together.

No, for the CR1/IR1 there is a IV bill of $380 and an AOS bill for $70 and that's the last thing we pay for.

As of now a K3 visa petitioner will have to pay $355 plus $1010 for AOS, so the total is $1365 (I'm not sure if they have to pay $100 at the time of the interview). A new CR1/IR1 petitioner will end up paying $805 total.

Since I'm pre-new fees I only ended up paying $640 and waited about a month longer than a K3 going through Colombia.

Yes, less by $50 not more. I was remembering the I-130 fee totalling a number ending in 80 but that's because I paid it for two petitions.

Some countries the difference is as little as a month or so for the total process. For others the difference can be a year or more. It's best to become fully informed for the specific country and make your decisions accordingly.

I do not think we are on the same page. You are saying that according to the new fees to apply for a I-130 you begin your journey with a IV bill and not the I-130 petition?

Mononoke is just fleshing out the total picture. For a K3 filer, after their petition is approved, the beneficiary pays $100 for the non-IV fee at the interview, and eventually they will pay $1010 to USCIS to adjust status.

For the CR-1/IR-1, in addition to the $355 fee for filing the inital 130 petition, there is the $380+$70 paid to DOS.

Total fee difference is $1465 vs. $805 between K3 and CR1/IR1 after the new fees go in.

So yes, the fee for filing 130 and 129F for K3ers goes down $5. Another helpful addition to this thread might be for someone to look at that new $1010 AOS fee, but it includes EAD now. How much was AOS+EAD before the fee increase?

Yes, the $1010 does include EAD but EAD is only necessary if you want to ensure they can work within a few months. Sometimes the AOS completes in the same time as EAD but sometimes AOS takes a long time. I guess it gets delayed by security checks fairly often.

Correcting my own typo, the filing fees for K3 go down $5. The extra zero was a typo. The full inventory of the old fees was as follows.

I-130 $190

I-129F $170

visa fee $100

AOS $395

Total $855 Optional EAD of $180 brought the grand total to $1035

Now it is.

Filing fees $355

visa fee $100

AOS $1010 (Includes EAD and Adv. Parole for K1)

Total $1465

The increase is $610

Most realize the full costs are much higher but depending on distance and number of visits they vary widely.

Sorry if my posts were hurried, but I was trying to point out that anyone filing for a AR1/CR1 visa will have to pay the full $355 to begin the petition. This is an increase of $165 over the old fee of $190 for filing an I-130.

Thank you for posting the actual amounts for viewers to read. Now the thread should make sense to the majority.
