Hi guys,

here's my question:

My husband doesn't meet the 125% requirement, so we will use his dad as a co-sponsor. I know that both will have to fill out the I-864, have their most recent tax return thing (which we got from the IRS plus the 2 other most recent), employer's letter, paystubs. What else?

Now we are unsure about my husband's mom. Her and my husband's dad file jointly but we were only going to use his money to meet the requirement. Do we still have to fill out the I-864A (household contract) or only if we used both? If they have to fill out the contract, do we need anything from the wife, too? Such as birth certificate to prove citizenship, employer's letter etc?

Aaaaah, confusion.

Please answer soon, we'll get the I-864 package any day now. Thanks!

Sounds like you're all set. As your father-in-law is using only his income, his wife does not have to fill out the I-864A or show any documents. She should be included in his household number though. So if it's just them, with you as the immigrant, his household number is 3.
