We mailed our AOS packet this morning and all along, I thought the check should be made for US Citizenship and Immigration Services since that's what we did before for our I-129F. This evening, I double checked everything and found out that it should be made for Department of Homeland and Security. Did I screw it up? Will they return the entire packet and make me pay $1010 in mailing it back or will they accept the check that we made even though its for USCIS? I was so in a rush to make sure that we got to file before the fee increase takes effective but with this quandary, I'm now really worried.

What do you think guys... Did anyone here made the check for USCIS instead of DHS for their AOS and succeeded? Please tell me. :crying::crying::crying:

Isn't filing everything with USCIS just like when you were in school and the teacher would lower your grade if you didn't follow the directions exactly? I would think they would accept it but who knows. They get to do whatever they want and if someone there has a wild hair maybe they won't. I remember some of the forms said you could use either one on the check but I think I put Department of Homeland Security on all of mine.

The Immigration Attorney I used to work for would write his turst checks to USCIS....so I don't see where it would be a problem. Just my opinion though.

I can't say for sure, as it does say make it payable to DHS on the actual form.

BUT...

from uscis.gov:

Fees should be made payable to Department of Homeland Security or U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

So hopefully you are OK but I can't say for sure.

Thank you for all your replies. I'm still worried about this since it's really in the instruction on I-485 but part of me is still hoping that they will accept our check with no problem. I spent day and night getting all the requirements, driving more than a 100 miles just to find a CS, putting them together 4 days after we got married and spending the supposedly time to enjoy being a newlywed to assemble the AOS packet just to make sure we won't have to pay that much :crying: . So imagine the pain it would cause me if they will reject it because of my stupidity. We'll call 1-800 Customer Service today just to make sure and if worse comes to worst, I'll send in a new packet on Saturday but without the I-693A since I submitted it to my original packet. Still keeping my hopes high here...

Thanks again!
