As Hamid gets ready for his interview hopefully soon, I just had an awful thought. The papers he carries with him--those don't have to be original certified copies, such as my birth certificate, etc??? I sent originals in with the K-1 application, but he has a copy of the entire packet to take with him to the Casa interview when it is scheduled. I am also sending him more evidence to take with him, hoping they will look at it (ha ha, yeah, right???) :crying: such as more pics, additional evidence, pics, of my second visit to Morocco, copies of my reservation for Sept. trip, etc.

I read on here somewhere that some poor guy actually got grilled on where his fiance went to elementary school and former husband's info. Wonder how many American spouses know all that. The whole thing is soooo infuriating!!!! Anway, we continue to hope for the best...Debbie and Hamid

As usual, all advice is appreciated. This is getting scary... Pray he won't get the worst of the worst interviewers....

In theory, he doesnt have to take any of the papers with him that you initially submitted such as your birth certificate. those are already in the file. I sent them to my fiance at the time just to be on the safe side. What he DOES need the originals of are the papers asked for at the interview, such as his birth cert and police report, etc. I am pretty sure we had originals of the financial papers and letters of intent too ( I am sorry, its been a long time for me, I never thought I would forget it but I have...)

I think taking the additional info is a fine idea, maybe they wont ask for or be interested in any of it but you never know.

As always, I know its easier said than done but just try not to worry too much. I sent my husband a really long list of factoids about me and my family just so he wouldnt be caught off guard by anything. They didnt end up asking much at all. I read that crazy elementary school thing too. I guess the bottom line is, if they want to ask some questions that are going to screw somebody up, they will. You just cant cover every single thing in your entire life.

found this in the guide here hope the link works K1

if the link doesnt work its practicialy the same as sara said , look

A...You need everything from the checklist, of course, but you also need originals of everything that was originally submitted as a copy, even with the I-129F petition (except the US Citizens passport and the original I-797 approval notice). Original birth certificates, divorce or death decrees, and originals of any documents to support the I-134 fall into this category. The Consulate has the right to ask for the original of any document, so best be prepared.

In one year's time here onVJ I have never heard of Casa askign for the originals that are in the USCIS package. My husband (then fiance) had copies I had sent, but they didn;t ask for those at all.

I remember this time before the interview. All kinds of "what if" scenarios come into your head esp reading the things here on VJ. BUT keep in mind, each case is unique, not everyone posts (or even can post) the particulars about their situation that might explain wy some questions were asked of them.

The Casa thread started by Sarah (of sarah and hicham) has a long list of the most common questions aksed by Casa. Every interview seems to have the same pattern of questions though some are more extensive and some start to diverge from the list according to the answers given by the interviewee.

Good luck!

My understanding is that if you sent originals in your application they have them and your fiance can provide copies "if asked". I think it is just to be on the safe side to send a set of origs. to your fiance. For the most part at my fiances interview they just cared about the new info that was being submitted. The really only time I think he would need it is if they had misplaced them out of your file and odds are that won't happen.

GOOD LUCK HOPE YOUR LOVE IS HERE SOON :)

Everyone should make a decision to send in what they think is best for their journey, but USCIS is very clear. They do not require originals unless specifically asked for in the instructions. Since most of us follow those proceedures, it can be a good idea to have originals in the consulate interview.

One good reason to send your SO a copy of the UCIS petition is so that your SO has the same information sitting in front of the CO during the interview.
